Iberia History At LAX (question)

Can anyone tell me Iberia's history of service at Los Angeles, specifically the dates that servece began and ended.

I'm afraid I don't know the dates exactly, but in 1993-1994, Iberia's service to Los Angeles was actually a codeshare with the now defunct Carnival Airlines. Carnival flew an A300 between Miami and Los Angeles. Passengers could connect in Miami to Iberia's flights to Spain and Latin America.

If it helps, the oldest A.net photo of an IB aircraft at LAX is dated August 1988 and the newest is dated January 1993. Both photos below:

I once flew LAX-MAD on a IB B747-200, it was in June 1988, and I can tell you the flight was full.

NO, they do it normally because 1st they loose money or they can make more money using that aircraft on a better route.  twocents

IB might be coming back to LAX in the near future!!! it's being considered together with DFW as the next destinations when IB expand their US network upon getting new wide body a/c

Hi All

IB started flying to LAX on the 5th of April 1987

Sorry I don't have the date the service was discontinued.
These are my principles but if you don't like them I have others

One little but important piece of information is that Iberia continued to serve LAX once it discontinued service with its own aircraft by a daily code-share with Carnival Airlines A300 via MIA. This lasted for about 5 years and even featured IB flight attendants onboard as assistants for a little while. In addition LAX side handling was with IB ground staff at TBIT with flight very much co-branded as Iberia-Carnival.

IB has a nonstop to LAX in the 9/93 ABC-- it's not in the 7/95 OAG.
