A Look At The New F9 Leather Seats (photos)

Tue Jul 17, 2007 5:08 am

Frontier's newest A318 (N812FR) joined the fleet just a few weeks ago, and in it, as many of you may know, are 114 brand new leather seats which will eventually be installed throughout the mainline fleet. This particular aircraft was not delivered with the four additional seats to also be added on the entire fleet, but after sitting in these seats and enjoying their surprising comfort, I would gladly give up that extra inch of personal space.

Enjoy!

WOW! Thanks for posting the pics. They do look very comfortable! In fact, they look a little plush. The old seats were a pain in the butt. When someone would go pee pee in the seat, it was a disaster. We were always having a tough time trying to find a replacement cushion. The leather seats are going to be a major cost savings for Frontier in the long run. The inch deal sure sucks, but I honestly could not tell the difference. It is what it is, and Frontier has loyal customers that will not turn away because of an inch or two. I would be happy to argue it with anyone, but the numbers in the future will prove my point.  Wink

They look like the EI A320 seats, but they have PTV's!

I thought the current seats were the most comfortable seats ive ever planted my  butthead  in. As long as the new ones are equally or more comfortable than the old ones, I have no complaints.

I also hope the bottom still slides forward when you recline.... Anyone know whether or not this is the case?

I agree, and from what I remember, they were pretty comfortable... It's been over a year though since I flew on the EI A320, so I couldn't compare the two.

LOL! Yes, we would have at least one incident a day at a station that only supported 4-5 flights to DEN daily. On one flight, we had 3 pee pee incidents on one flight. Mostly kids, but sometimes we would get the adult that could not handle the turbulence out of DEN. Then we had those that could not hold onto their drink, and decided to pour them across the seats.

Those leather seats are going to be such a nice savings. I am sure they cost more than the fabric ones, but the long term must be amazing. I noticed some of our new planes seats were already looking worn out after only a few months. The carpet was another issue. Those that accidentally spit their gum out in the aisle, and someone accidentally skidding the gum down the aisle. I wonder how often an airline needs to re-carpet their floors?

The seats do look sharp. I thought the seat belts were going to be black. They still look like the blue ones. Maybe when the extra 4 seats are added they will replace the seat belts?

No, it was the usual 114-seat layout.

What's interesting is that my partner, also an F9 flight attendant, called me just a few minutes ago on his ground time in DEN, having switched to aircraft 801 for his flight to DAY, and he told me that 801 also had the new leather seats on it, but lacked the 4 additional seats, too.

Maybe upper management decided to go out on line and ask a Summit member or two about their thoughts on giving up an inch or two of seat pitch...and then came to their senses.

Too bad F9 isn't installing the same larger TV screens that B6 is getting. The screens F9 has look very primitive compared to the larger, nicer ones. Is B6 (the owner of LiveTV) not letting them, or does F9 just not want to make the investment for something so insignificant? That aside, the new seats look nice. I wish B6 had adjustable headrests!
