Impact Of The CGH Crash On The Airport?

Wed Jul 18, 2007 10:59 am

My condolances to all the families friends and souls affected by this crash.

According to reuters widebodies came under a possible ban at CGH due to worries about the runways. What might this crash hold for CGH's future? Will it be affected?

would Q400's be better suited to serve the domestic market, at least to SDU , like the old Electra Shuttles?

First of all, Infraero need to complete the grooving on runways !

Second, it's clear CGH is not able to be the nations domestic hub. But now people will probably avoid the airport, and
airlines will need to relocate some flights.

But at this time, i'm more concerned with our member and friend JJMNGR that works on such facility.

Let's see how long before Brazilian airlines snap up every BAe 146/Avro RJ85 available. The STOL capabilities of the 146/RJ85 would serve well for the downtown airports at Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro.

The article is innacurate. Widebodies have not flown regularly scheduled flights at Congonhas for several years. A judge tried to ban some of the narrowbodies operating at the airport based on lack of evidence that they could operate safely at the airport.

As for the likely impact, my expectations are not very high.

That will not happen.
