Brazil Requests ICAO Audit Of Its Air Traffic Sector
The persistent shadow of delayed and canceled flights during heavy traffic periods in Brazil prompted two government airline regulators, the Dept. of Aeronautics and the attorney general for labor matters (MPT), to request from ICAO an independent audit of Brazil's air traffic sector.
The objective of the audit during its operational phase in 2008, as announced by Brig. Ramon Borges Cardoso, is to study relevant problems in depth and then complete it in 2009 with recommendations to address specific problems, reports Jornal do Brasil. Later, ICAO inspectors would return to Brazil to oversee implementation.
