Jetstar's StarClass - What's It Like?

Mon Jul 23, 2007 6:56 pm

I'll be flying with Jetstar International quite a bit over the next 12 months for work and I've arranged to travel StarClass. The few reviews on the web aren't very complimentary so I was hoping to get a little more insight from those who have actually experienced it.

What's it like? Is it nothing more than economy with Qantas?

Hello Peh

speaking as someone who has flown star class a few times now, I think the cabin is fine and
quite comfortable.

Whilst its marketing by Jetstar as its Business Class, it really is a Premium Economy Product
- or a domestic Business class product ...

The Seats are Qantas Millenium Business Class seats - but now they are covered in Charcoal
leather.

The best seat in starclass is 2E ! Its the Aisle of the 3 centre seats in row two but infront is no
seat at all as row middle is only a two seater - so lots of room to stretch out ...

the meals are Y Class fare, the overall level of food served is abundant.

On a typical flight ex AUS to ASIA you would get a choice of 1 of the 3 hot meals, salad, warmed
bread roll, unlimited drinks, a small salad with dressing and a bread roll. After the meal service a
dessert service is offered on a trolley using plastic plates and will also be cake with fresh cream
and lots of fresh fruits, tea/coffee and chocolates etc.

The 2nd meal service prior to arrival is a choice of a hot chunky beef pie or a vegetarian fritata,
condiments, drinks and a Conniseur Icecream tub ....

And between flights - you will be offered byron bay cookies, fresh fruit, toblerones and of course
tea and coffee

PLEASE DO NOT FLY STARCLASS THINKING YOU WILL BE GETTING BUSINESS CLASS
OF QF, CX, SQ etc You would be disappointed.

I suggest you read the comments on here - go to www.airlinequality.com and also have a look
at the trip reports here ... you will get a great picture of what to expect...

Hope this helps !

Cheers
Ibuff

This is probably the best review trip report on Jetstar Star Class; here

Probably the best way to describe Jetstar star class, Offering is premium economy rather than business class

Quote:
Catering consisted of a "Lunch" shortly after take off and a refreshment later with drinks available throughout the flight.
Why fly non stop when you can connect

Quoting Peh (Thread starter):

Domestic Business Class with IFE, basically...

Food is similar, plastic "glasses" etc... however, it is reasonably priced in comparison to QF J, which is why people would use it. For a 9 hour day flight, you might as well go StarClass. I'm flying it next year.
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

Thank Ibuff - definately sounds like a premium economy product. I'll give it a go and maybe submit a trip report. I was surprised that I didn't find any here.
