United Lose Some Of Gates At SEA?

Sat Jul 28, 2007 10:53 am

I remember when look up SEA-TAC airport website many times. I know that North satellie used to be used by all of UA and lately UA has lose some of gates to AS. I am wonder if it is reason due to UA cut some of flights and routes out of SEA? Does AS made some agreement with UA to use some of their gates or give up gates for some money?? (sorry if I do not make any sense)

OFF topic here...but where does the SEA-NRT 777 come from?

Well, Alaska has been raising the number of flights out of SEA, (Including the new ones to Hawaii.) UAL has moved a number of flights to the newer A Gates.

IIRC it comes in from NRT where it gets rotated throughout the system.

United uses only 6 gates in the North Satellite now. N1, N2, N6, N9, N15, N16. UAX uses N12, and Jazz uses N13. Alaska has gates N14, N3, N7, N8, N10, N11.

I'm pretty sure United gave the gates back to the airport. United's corporate real-estate came to every station during bankruptcy and terminated the leases on gates and wasted space.

So no domestic 777 flights TO SEA, but there are some domestic 777 flights FROM SEA???

Not anymore. As recently as a year or two ago the planes were routed NRT-SEA-DEN-ORD-SEA-NRT, but that was discontinued as UA sought to add new routes and bump up utilization for international flying.

There is still a daily SEA-IAD-SEA on an internationally-configured 763 however.

I recently check the SEA-TAC website and they did not show UAL use newer Terminal A. UAL was not even listed with another airlines that using gates A.

I think it is possible to that issues of bankruptcy. It must be cool to see all UA on North satellie. I am sure that NW still use most of South??

Not from SEA, but per UAL.com they do have a domestic 772 to SFO on flight 751 from DEN.

We gain and lose domestic three-class 777 service from ORD-SEA (mornings) and SEA-DEN (evenings) throughout the year. Sometimes they just fly the same plane back and forth between SEA-NRT and sometimes they rotate it around the system - often one going ORD-SEA-NRT-XXX and then another doing XXX-NRT-SEA-DEN.

Ah, I stand corrected; I confused UAL with USA. Sorry!  embarrassed

Actually the 767-300 comes in from Europe from BRU and continues onto SEA. From there I dont know where it goes, but when we load it they always ask for extra boards and empty cans for all the freight the do there.
The opinions I post are of mine and mine alone, not of the airline I work for.

No they haven't...not sure where you heard that or where you got the idea (B6 moved from N to A, but that's it). Aside from the NRT arrival at the S gates, all of UA's flights at SEA depart/arrive at the N gates.

That said, I've noticed quite a few more AS birds at the N gates the last few times I've been to SEA. Additionally, QX has moved into the B gate closest to their ramp at the C terminal...should be interesting to see where the two airlines find room for expansion in the coming year.
