Nepal Airlines Grounded By Technical Problems

Wed Aug 01, 2007 11:29 am

This follows a similar incident during May when both 757s were out of commission also.  Wow!

Nepal Airlines Corp. is suspending all international flights for a week because its two long-haul Boeing 757-200s are out of action due to technical problems.

One 757 is grounded due to engine problems and the other needs to go to Brunei for a month for a C-check.

Domestic flights have also remained non-operational for the past four days following employees agitating for management to buy new aircraft. NAC has seven DHC-6-Twin Otters with 19 seats.

Wow, thats the first time I have ever heard the 757 referred to as a "long haul" aircraft. Though I guess in comparison the DHC-6...

Any data on what the 'Engine Problem' is and what engines they have on their 757s?

Really?? Now that was a pact I had not previously known. I knew that the B757 Combi existed, but I thought there was more than 1 copy. Any idea how many seats in that thing?

RNA still flies it as Pax Jet & not as combi.

RNA has dropped 'R' lately after the Maoists entered a power-sharing agreement in the country. However, with the huge amount of internal strife that has racked the country since their last king was assassinated/murdered has meant that the airline has suffered as a result. There are some smaller airlines but they mainly feed off India-Nepal traffic. Quite sad actually, because their 752's were for a long time the only 757's we used to see in DEL.

I apologize. I see what you meant the first time. Takes a bit for the light to go off.

I hope things get better for NA. Hate to see an airline struggle for some politics.

Mel,

Why don't they bring their 757s to India for maintenance?

Only B757 operator is Blue Dart which does not have its own Hangar facility as the Aircraft are just a year with them.
