Options On EZE-SCL Route

Thu Aug 02, 2007 11:47 pm

I know AF went SCL-CDG nonstop leaving a few options on this route. AR, AC LA any others?. Does AC fly this segment everyday?. Will fly in Feb of next year IAD-EZE-SCL-IAD, US bound flights on AA.

GOL certainly has the cheapest fare: http://www.voegol.com.br/ARG/

GOL operates 3 daily flights EZE-SCL.

Hi Eastern,

There are 5 choices:
- LA (you can maybe try to get the flight during the day when they use the A340)
- AR
- Gol
- AF (it's not non-stop CDG every day, I think it's every other day non-stop and the others via EZE)
- AC (I think they fly 5x/week)
Btw, The Holiday-Inn at SCL is open...
Just sit back, relax and have a glass of Merlot...enjoy your life!

Yep, they have. Around 60USD for a random date in February 2008, taxes included.

If you want to collect miles on OneWorld your best go is LAN for 219USD, but it would be cheaper to buy a round-trip and not use the return coupon. The cheapest AC fare one-way is little under 200USD.
Since you only need a one-way ticket, GOL is a good option. Especially now that GOL tickets can be bought online with foreign credit cards.

Tks for the interesting info. Is the hotel at LIM airport already open as well?

LH will operate EZE nonstop 5 x week while SCL continues to be served with LX via GRU. BA serves EZE via GRU.

A month too late (for me at least  Sad )

The A340 is indeed the nicest option on this route, at least it seemed to me. Took it early July. Other types would be A320 and B763.
- AR
All B735, fares from 100USD and up.
- Gol
All B738.
- AF (it's not non-stop CDG every day, I think it's every other day non-stop and the others via EZE)
Does not operate this route in IATA winter anymore, all flights will be direct terminator flights (CDG-SCL and CDG-EZE)
- AC (I think they fly 5x/week)
-B763.

I just checked the AF website and this is correct after this date in September they go SCL-CDG nonstop.

Thanks Acontador, I checked the hotel website, looks pretty nice. I wish it would have been a marriott, but better than none at all.

LAN, Aerolineas Argentinas and GOL are the best options to travel between Buenos Aires and Santiago. LAN operates 8 daily flights on SCL-EZE-SCL route. Aerolineas Argentinas offers only 4 but they have plans to upgrade its service to 6 daily flights in cooperation with Marsans' partner Aerolíneas del Sur (renamed as Air Comet Chile). GOL offers 3 daily flights using a mix of Boeing 737-700 and -800. AC offers only 5 weekly flight using a B763.

Comparing number of flights and price the best options are LA, AR, G3.

PD: By the way the Holiday Inn Express in SCL is now open!

No A340 flights listed during Feb 08. Just A320's 767's. I wish AC was cheaper n the segment. Would love to get UA miles for the run.

Rgs,

Not really, I've quoted LA and it can get up to 7 dollars cheaper. AR, gave me a 1 dollar cheaper fare. Depends on the date and LF of the flight.

That's when the A340s have their worse operational nightmares. The A340 flights to AKL-SYD and MAD are often delayed due to temperature/engine performance issues. It's wise NOT to schedule the A340 on those flights, because it could increase the risk of going INOP.

Quoting PHKLM (Reply 7):

I believe they are only operated when the AKL-SYD runs are.

BTW, and I know Hardi will kick me in the balls about what I'm going to say...  Silly G3 is severely suffering delays in the EZE-SCL-LIM runs (of about 2 or 4hrs), because the flights coming from Brazil are delayed.

Gastón, are you sure? AR is definitely not a lot more expensive than G3, however, LAN charges 216USD (ex-tax) for the full-flexible fare. This is a very convenient fare because it allows for, well, anything without paying a penalty fee (changes, cancellations after departure, etc), but it is far more economical to book a round-trip ticket with LA or a o/w ticket with any of the other carriers.

For Feb 8th I get the following:
G3: 63USD
AR: 96USD
AC: 225USD
LA: 246USD

Quoting MD11junkie (Reply 14):

Yes, but the flights will end with the end of the summer schedule (end of October).

I didn't know or realize that. I reckon LAN would be so glad if they could get ETOPS clearance for the SCL-AKL run; it would be the immediate end of the A340 in the fleet.

That's absolutely true! And add to that that FEB 08 is high season down here (summer holidays), so expect your flight to be packed! Btw, I have also seen many cancelations/delays with AR flights EZE-SCL, and in particular they often cancel one flight if loads are bad and transfer those passengers to the next one. So, if you ask me, there is a good reason why fares for AC and LA are higher...

The problem of AC is that you lose one day travelling. You depart from EZE in the afternoon so you spend midday going to the airport, arriving into Santiago in the evening. Almost the same case from SCL to EZE, departing at midday.

For GOL I recommend the flight G3 7458/7459 or G3 7452/7453, because the flight G3 7456/7457 suffers serious delays in both ways.

According the LAN 's A343 on route to Buenos Aires normally LAN programs one or two flight at day with the A343 during high demand period, for example Christmas. However all depends of the schedule of the flight to Europe and Oceania.
