Emirates 777 BUsiness Class Question

Sat Aug 04, 2007 4:38 pm

Hi Guys and Girls,

Does anybody know what routes EK use the new lie-flat business class seats on their 77W's on?
Any of the Australian legs or the UK legs?

Cheers

That I know of, EK765 & 766 (DXB-JNB-DXB). Also on DXB-HKG-DXB (EK386 & 387)

I'm flying EK 203 (DXB-JFK) in Sept and back on EK 202 (JFK-DXB) in early Oct. I believe the a/c is a 773 ER. Could anyone tell me if those flights will have the lie-flat seats in C?

Thanks,

Marc

Your flights are going to be on the 3-class 77W's - meaning standard "recliner seats".

EK001/2 to LHR has the new lie flat beds as well as EK201/2 and 203/4 to JFK has it. As for EK765/6 to JNB, this flight is operating in a 2 class configuration with the non-lie flat seats. Not sure about Hong Kong. None of the Oz trips utilise these aircraft which is a great shame!

i traveled that route, the HKG non-stop service is A332, but the 2 flights via BKK are 2 class (some times 3) but not the new lie-flat seats.

SYD i beleive got the new seats and sometimes Melbourne.

But as far as i'm concerned, the EK 77W (ULR) 3-class have the new lie-flat bed in J/C. And have heard people said the JFK sector is operated by the 3-class 77W ULR.

They have 2 configurations for the 77W as well as 2 for the 77W ULR.

Melbourne does not get them. The B777-300ER does not fly to MEL on the B777-300 does.

JNB gets 77W's exclusively and IIRC is set to receive EK A380's once they arrive.

All I know is IAH will have 8 private suites in First Class on the 777-200LR and Business will have 42 of the latest lie-flat seats, but I don’t know how flat they are. Finally a non stop to DXB!!!

One of EK's biggest problem is the mismatch of J Class product you get. Apparently a major retrofit is going on, but at present its a lottery flying on 3 Class 77W's. I do not believe any 2 Class 77W's have the lie flat seats. I was disappointed recently when flying GLA DXB in J. The pilot announced proudly that the equipment we were on was straight out of the factory in Seattle (X regist if i remember correctly). However we were still sitting in the old style J class seat... Even more dissappointed are the pax on the 773 which still goes to Brisbane i believe. Aged frame, malfunctioning equipment and no ICE for the 17hr trip via SIN. My last BNE trip was in a faulty seat in J that did not recline fully and then would not retract completely for landing..

According to EK website, the Business Class seat pitch for the B777-300ER are as follow :

Standard B777-300ER
- 2-class = 54" pitch
- 3-class = 60" pitch

B777-300ER ULR
- 2-class = 54" pitch
- 3-class = 72" pitch

Below is the picture of the New Emirates Business Class (only available on 3-class B777-300ULR)

True. None of the 2-class EK 777 (772/773/standard 77W/77W ULR) have lie-flat seats in Business Class.

Thanks for the info, but the DBX-IAH route will be operated by the brand spanking new 777-200LR. 266 seats (8/42/216) I’m guessing the business seats are the new ones. I love CO, but I will be flying Emirates when they start this flight. Sorry CO, I love you but I hate connecting in London more.
