Scot Airways Close SOU

Sun Aug 05, 2007 8:18 pm

I just came accross this while looking to book some flights

"It is with regret that we announce, that from the 10th of August, ScotAirways will no longer be operating on the Southampton - Amsterdam route" scot airways website

I guess it was only a matter of time when flybe started the route but i thought business travellers might have been more loyal as the airline states that it has been flying the route for the last 9 years!

Soon SOU will only have flybe operating from it.

How long before SOU becomes like EXT with Isle of Scilly Skybus the only other scheduled airline apart from BE? Perhaps that is a bit extreme but SOU is becoming increasingly BE dominated. Wonder if bmi will ever go to SOU as has been long rumoured

A real pity to see them go. I remember CB (former Suckling A/W) still operating the Do228's into AMS.
Does CB think of expanding elsewhere instead?

I know they are flying the belfast route from london city so maybe thats where the aircraft is going to?

It seems a shame that smaller carriers arn't support in staying on routes. They have kept a good service going to AMS from SOU and then are pushed out by flybe. I know that flybe use to codeshare with air france on the paris routes and has now with brussels airline I wonder why they couldn't do the same with scot airways?

Shame to see Scot Airways off this route. I incl them in my TR last April. I would love to go on them. They look like a nice small airline.

When does Belfast to LCY start???

The other option is to use it for charter work, which I think has been a good market for them
