Taca To Start LIM-MVD

Mon Aug 06, 2007 11:33 am

I've been told that taca will start its service to Montevideo in SEP07, 3x LIM-MVD-LIM and 3x LIM-VVI-MVD-VVI-LIM.

Im wondering if anyone has any more information ?

I have heard nothing in this regard, but it is very interesting information. I have the impression that MVS is underserved, even from South American cities, so this seems to me like a good opportunity to offer better connections to Uruguayans and to people visiting Uruguay. Hopefully someone else will know more about this.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

Have you got any reliable source to support that?
I have not found anything in the website...
TA has established agreements with some non air partners such as credit cards, rent a car, hotels and so on...
Both Radisson and Barcelo Hotels in Uruguay are included...
http://www.taca.com/eng/fre/fear/fearhot.asp
It is better to read a bit more prior to start any opinion...
Any information would be appreciated.
Regards.  wave

I have added the translation from the original source:
.
.
From "El País." Montevideo, Uruguay. August 06, 2007.
.
Taca is planning to fly Montevideo-Lima.
Taca has met with Uruguayan authorities to fly directly between Lima and Montevideo four days a week. Taca pretends to make that nonstop flight in order to transfer those passengers to some of the 34 cities in 19 countries involved in its network. It may start in October.

Why LIM-VVI-MVD but not LIM-ASU-MVD ?
I don't work for COPA Airlines!

Im sure VVI has more potencial than ASU, but Im pretty that if TACA comes tu MVD it'll be non stop directly from LIM without a stop over.

And ASU cant even sustain a non stop service to MVD, PZ has to stop at EZE and then ASU to make it profitable using F100 daily.

Schedules are already loaded, 4 times a week starting late October, ending April 1, 2008, operated with A-319, non-stop

Also check this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrasco_International_Airport, it shows service starting in September

I noticed, is this seasonal? sounds kinda odd, or is this for test porpoises ? somehow like AA did with MIA-MVD before the year-round service?

Thanks.

TACA maybe will test the Uruguayan market runs first 3 weekly non stop flight and 3 weekly one stop flights via VVI. After that and according with its results TACA probably runs separately MVD and VVI, offering non stop flight to both destinations.

By the way, TACA has got a 5th freedom for VVI-MVD segment?

Poor porpoises, if they conduct tests on them, I hope they at least treat them humanely.  duck

TA operates VVI as LIM-VVI and sometimes LIM-LPB-VVI. ASU is not served by TA.

PZ has to stop at EZE and then ASU.

It also should be noted that TAM (JJ) is an air partner of TA.
Distancia is the program for frequent passengers used by TA. Those passengers earn Distancia miles on JJ flights. I do not know if TAM MERCOSUR (PZ) is being involved into the same scheme.
PZ also flies ASU-VVI. Stops in CBB.

LIM-MVD is 1827 nm. It is a possible run for any of their TA´s Airbus aircrafts.

LIM is an excellent point for transferring passengers in South America.
TA does (EZE, GRU, SCL, VVI, LPB) to/from (BOG, UIO, GYE, CCS) through LIM.
