recently seen a charter flt to ACY operated by an outfit called Skyking using an old DL 737-200 and still has some of the newer DL paint scheme on it. Is this an independent operation or is it owned by another op.

I assume it is the company out of the west, although not who you are thinking. It is large enough (6 737s) I wouldn't even be surprised to find out there is an employee named Penny.  Wink

Sky King is a California based charter, originally started by Gregg Luckenbill, the former owner of the Sacramento Kings (get it? King, Kings). It was an outgrowth of the team charters, Luckenbill realized instead of chartering from others he could purchase an aircraft and then charter TO other people when the team didn't need it.

The company operates out of Sacramento and the old Castle Airport in Atwater.
