India: More Freight Airlines Ready For Take Off

Tue Aug 07, 2007 8:14 pm

Quote:
Flyington Freighters: [snip] The airline is expected to start this month with two leased A330-200Fs. It has placed orders for four other A330-200Fs and four Boeing 777 freighter aircraft. It is also interested in Airbus’ freighter version of A380, the largest air plane ever built.

Aryan Cargo Express is set to begin non-scheduled domestic and international operations around October. It will operate from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Kochi, and will fly cargo flights to China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Dubai. “We are awaiting permission from the Ministry of Civil Aviation for scheduled operations. We have a fleet of three Boeing 757-200 freighter aircraft. We will have a fleet size of eight by March next year which will help us get into scheduled operations,” said promoter Mukut Sharma.

Air Cargo Express, with its dedicated fleet of ATRs, is also supposed to start operations this year. Reliance Retail is also considering starting a cargo airline for its supply chain.

A bit hard to judge how accurate this article is. Flyington has orders for 12 (?) A330-200F and none for the B777-200LRF, and it is the first time I hear them connected to the A380F. Reliance had been a bit more prominent about a year ago but has gone very quiet lately. Maybe one of our Indian members can give us an update?

Currently theres just One Scheduled operator ie Blue Dart with four B732SF & two B752SF,with the 3rd B752SF joining in October 2007.
The other operator is non scheduled operator ie First flight with two serviceable ATP turboprops.

There is news of Reliance planning to enter the market in 2008.
Flyington freighters with A330 Freighters
Quickjet with B733SF & B752SF

Aryan Air is news to me as is Air cargo express

The best sign is when the operator apply with the regulatory Authorities & start recruiting Flt ops & Mx personell.

At the moment no such signs.

Its Important for a Cargo company to have a good ground network to be sucessfull.

I'd say this article is careless at best. Whatever Flyington start flying "this month" it certainly won't be A330-200Fs.

Moreover, I believe the order for 777Fs is dead. Airbus certainly came as close as they could to saying so when they announced the order for 6 A330-200Fs.

'Flyington Freighters [...] has selected the Airbus A330-200F freighter for its entire fleet."

"Entire fleet"?

Its difficult to believe that these Airlines are planning to start within months when the necessary permissions are pending.
