Empty Hangars In Tampa?

Wed Aug 08, 2007 1:15 am

I fly through TPA quite a bit and always see two large empty hangars on the east side of the airport. One belongs to US and the other to DL. I havent seen any aircraft there, what are the plans for those buildings?

Both hangars have been vacated by those airlines for a few years. A deal was just announced for the former US hanagar. Pemco will be using it for commercial aircraft work soon.

So does that mean TPA could finally be seeing some interesting aircraft coming and going?

Took a tour a few years ago when both were in use..and got inside both. Those places are HUGE. Actually got into the cockpit of a DAL jet which was undergoing rehab...there was nothing in the panels but holes, and dangling wires...
My hat is off to the people who know how to put all together again. But as noted above , at least one will see action again. Should mean some jobs for the mechanics who didn't move when the two closed...
