Judging by the flight numbers, these are American Eagle flights. According to FlightAware. the current flight is operated by an Embraer ERJ-135.

Will the new service use an ER3 as well? Will the existing service receive an equipment upgrade?

Well I think they may have pulled the flight already. It was loaded on Sunday and now the new flight has been zeroed out on all dates after 05NOV. Don't know whats up with this flight now.

No, they have not pulled it, but it wasn't supposed to be loaded this past weekend. Bangor service ends 05Nov07, which is freeing up ERJs for this flight and some others. MIA-CVG will also be seeing additional service. 05Nov07 is also when MIA becomes a full pledged ERJ-140 overnight maintenance base, replacing Bangor.

All ERJ service to Miami on American Eagle is operated with ERJ-140s with the exception of one flight to Cleveland.

Not True. All the overnight MTX from BGR is moving to XNA. MIA has along way to go before they can become an overnight MTX base. For example there has been an ERJ sitting there since Sunday.

Interesting. What changed? Because two weeks ago, MIA was becoming an overnight ERJ-140 base this winter. In fact, they've already started stocking it for overnight maintenance from what I've been told.

Is PIT still only at 1 daily out of MIA? Any chance of another frequency? I had 4 family members on that flight recently and they said it was oversold. Not sure how yields are though.

I'm still waiting for AE to start service to CAK. Anyone think that will ever happen?

MQ is in the process of acquiring more HGR space at XNA. MIA will continue to do overnight MTX but will not do phases. Logistically MIA is a nightmare do the fact that the ATR flying and jet flying are on two different certificates and technically the parts can't be kept together in the same location.

PIT would be 2-3x daily if AA had the planes. They don't.

Not anytime soon, with no slots to grow at ORD and no additional ERJ's either.

There are a number of smaller markets in the Northeast / Mid-Atlantic / Ohio Valley that AA does not serve (or has/will drop). Partially due to their hub locations & route network, partially due to their aircraft constraints, and partially due to their slot constraints at ORD.

Other cities include:
ABE
AVP
CRW
CAK
ROA
SWF (soon to be dropped)
ERI
BGM
ELM
PWM
BTV
MHT

I know the folks over at AA will be happy about this, assuming it does indeed end up going through. The current ERD to MIA is frequently either oversold or weight-restricted. The traffic is there, especially during the winter, for a mainline jet to MIA, but the yields must be quite poor. It'd be great to see some CR7s flowing through MIA, but with only 25 of them in the entire system, the aircraft just simply are not there. Either way, it will be good to get a little more capacity in the market.

CMH is also a MQ maint base. Im sure thats why CMH sees so many MQ flights to the large AA/MQ stations (ORD, DFW, BOS, LGA, RDU, MIA and STL). I sure hope the 2nd daily nonstop is a go. The times are great for commuting.

AA's yields on MIA-CMH are quite good actually. AA's average fare on MIA-CMH is $364.88 round-trip. Though part of the reason they can command that is, obviously, that they limit capacity.

It did okay, it actually performed better than MIA-MEM which is still flying. It might come back when more RJs are freed up, but BHM is probably the next new route.

MIA is not Ops trained for the CR7...

MQ has a large MX base there... Also all the MIA MQ planes are out of the ORD base...
Why do I fly???

Well, it isn't that they perfer, but they only have 25 of them. If they had more, they would love to send them to Miami. Perfect sized plane for MIA-CMH/CLE/CVG/PIT, and it would allow them to economically fly routes like MIA-BUF/YOW/ROC.

MQ still has options for 25 more CRJ's but more than likely they will never take them. But who knows maybe after the AA piolts rengoiate there contract.

American Eagle will expand their fleet when pilot negotiations are complete and the scope clause is gone. They need more 70-100 seaters. I could easily see them taking on 50-70 new planes.

Ohh... okay. I thought it was more of a cost-savings issue like not having the MD-80s fly into MIA.

Couldn't agree with you more....But I highly doubt they will be CRJ's. MQ isnt happy with them or the technical support they receive from bombardier.

Agreed, they would probably be E170/E190 family jets. If they could only solve those labour issues...

Ill second that. If AE receives more new a/c then I would also anticipate the removal of the E135/140 a/c from the fleet. Total number of fleet airframes would remain the same or lower, but higher number of seats available. Thoughts?

Not in the short-term. Whenever they decide to obtain/order additional frames Eagle will go into expansion mode. Its almost certain that Eagle will not take anymore 50 seaters (or less), but the additional 70-90-100 seaters (regardless if Eagle or mainline) will be used for expansion and to right-size routes currently flown by 50 seaters. Additional they will open routes that are beyond the range of the current ERJ's, particularly from MIA.

The freed-up ERJ's then can be used on other routes that make sense, that would be decent performing, but there simply are not enough available aircraft at this time.

Is there any truth to this - it always has come across as more of an a.net myth than anything.
True, there were some initial reliability & familiarity problems with the CR7's when they first choiced the fleet, but that is typical whenever any airline takes on a new aircraft type. It has always seen that people have continued to believe that is true to this day. Everyone else seems more than happy with Bombardier's support, what makes Eagle different?

AA is still playing around with their finalized winter schedules. MIA-CMH is set to go 2x daily this winter, by 13Dec07 at the latest. Of course, that can change too, but as of now it will be 2x daily.

Looks like the flight was pulled this past weekend. It was only in Sabre for one week. I dont understand why they would sell seats for one week and then pull the flight.

It was made bookable prematurely. As I said, a final decission to launch the flight has not been made, but, as of now, it is still going to start this winter. They are still toying with some other ideas.
