My Mother told me she heard SFB-IWA on the Orlando news last night. Can anyone confirm this? I believe the 83 and 87 could make that, but not the 82. Is that correct?

Hmmm that would be interesting to see IWA-SFB, but looking at it, I bet that would be a great route. I never thought I'd see a flight from Hub to Hub, but we may see that this fall.

Nice to see ABE getting some more attention. With Allegiant's service, and US' mainline service to CLT, it seems like the Lehigh is coming closer (albeit very, very slowly) to being a relief airport for PHL. Now if only the prices would go down somewhat.

Any word on timetables for the ABE flight? There are currently three flights a day to ABE (from SFB and St. Petersburg) that come in at all different times.

I would think that if they get the service, you might see the 2x weekly on something like Tues/Fri

But there is no guarantee until they start announcing.

My question exactly, where is Allegiant getting their new aircraft, and from what sources?

According to their 2nd quarter financials
"Allegiant also leased two additional MD-80 aircraft during the second quarter, one of which was placed in service by quarter end. The other leased MD-80 was placed into service in July, along with an owned MD-80, bringing our current operating fleet to 29 MD-80 aircraft..... We also have committed to purchase a total of eight MD-80 aircraft for delivery to us through the first quarter of 2008. Of these eight aircraft, six would come with seller-financing."

The most recent aircraft added seems to have come from storage and previously was at AeroMexico. I wonder if the upcoming aircraft have the same source.

A quick thought has just come to mind. Could Allegiant seasonal route adjustments free up aircraft for some or all of these new routes?

I believe some of these adjustments are just starting to kick in now. YNG for example has lost their only Allegiant flights for 90 days. Here are some adjustments at RFD:

"Allegiant Air is adding a weekly Wednesday flight each way between Chicago/Rockford International Airport and Orlando-Sanford, Fla., from Oct. 10 to Nov. 8.

The route drops from four flights a week to two in September, but will be back up to three with the additional Wednesday flights.

From November on, the route returns to four flights a week. The changes are due to seasonal changes in demand — last fall, Allegiant also reduced service on the route."

FatFlyer would know more about other seasonal adjustments I am sure.

I know I posted this earlier, but does anyone else think Lansing, MI is a good candidate for both destinations? The flights are well supported and they seem very comfortable with Lansing being a launch destination. We were one of the first for SFB and PIE if I remember.

Also, a lot of people in Michigan love to go out to Arizona during the winter.

Thoughts welcome

I totally agree with those routes. Does that bring any other airports up to five destinations with Allegiant besides Des Moines.

What about the starting of service to EVV? I understand the proximity to Mid-America, but IMHO EVV could definitely work for Allegiant.

Somewhere I read or heard that the cities will be announced at a home baseball game , in PIA, of the minor league team there. I also thought that the announcement was going to be made Aug. 25.

If my memory is indeed correct that I think it would be safe to assume that both FLL and IWA. I cant imagine they would make an announcement in PIA and PIA is not one of the cities for the new flights.

Everyone seems to think Des Moines is a lock for IWA, but you have to remember, DSM has US daily to PHX, and I could have sworn somewhere that I read Allegiant was looking to link cities not already served to the Phx area to IWA. That would leave DSM out of the mix.

Thats what I was trying to think of. Someone did say that, i think it was in a news release or an a.net thing. Im surprised Allegiant hasnt started FSD-St. Petersburg. Sioux FAlls has a big market for Florida, especially during Winter.

You almost wonder if some of the cities Allegiant chooses wont set off the US Airways/America West button to add a CR2 to some of the cities again. HMMMMMMMM

It was one of Allegiant's senior management who said no route would already have flights to anywhere in AZ. So they are not looking to compete with US, WN, or anyone else.

So DSM would NOT be a choice.

Allegiant will not be competing with existing routes, a company executive said.

“None of the markets we anticipate serving will have any non-stop service anywhere in Arizona,” said Ponder Harrison, managing director of Allegiant Travel Co., the Las Vegas-based parent company of Allegiant Air.

I still have my money on SMX-IWA. There is no US to interfere with and US will never fly to SMX. There is also something on the airport website that asks if you would utilize a IWA-SMX route.

that might be true, and I am sure if DSM didn't have those flights on US already they would get the service, but I am only going by what has been said directly from Allegiant posted above that they will be starting the service to cities that currently have no Phx area service, so looks like DSM won't be getting this service, at least for now.

SO!!!! What if Us Airways/America West gets turned off by one of these airlines, and goes, "Lets compete with them using 1x daily flight not on the CR2, but on a 733 or CR9"

Is there a possiblity that could happen, oh say to Fort Wayne, Lansing, Rockford, or Sioux Falls? I might be wrong but Fort Wayne has a lot of connecting passengers that go to Phoenix, and Sioux Falls had 95 percent load factors on the CR2, but once HP/US merged, FSD got dropped.

The grassroots campaign has just sent Allegiant Air the results of the Rally for YNG Poll as of 10pm et this evening. Although this was not an official campaign of the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport; Allegiant Air will be very much impressed that the citizens of the Mahoning Valley went out and started a campaign to show them that they want additional flights!

Here are the latest results:
Poll Results as of 10pm et.
Total Votes: 2,235 votes

>Fort Lauderdale: 581 Votes [26%]
>Las Vegas: 575 Votes [26%]
>Tampa/St. Pete: 421 Votes [19%]
>Ft. Myer's [added August 6th]: 355 Votes [16%]
>Phoenix: 304 Votes: [14%]

So what do you guys think of our chances, regardless of the grassroots efforts?

First announcements in about 4 hours. FATFlyer or those with the knowledge know how many destinations they are announcing today for Phoenix and how many they are announcing today for Ft. Lauderdale? I know that Rockford is having a big celebration at their minor league baseball game tonight, and I have heard a few others are doing something similar, but not sure if they are doing all 11 at 6pm today or what.

Thanks

Per Allegiant's press release
The first route will be announced and available for purchase Aug. 9 and all routes will be announced by the end of September. A clock on the company's website will provide a count down to each new city announcement and can be viewed at http://www.allegiantair.com.
http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/st...story/08-01-2007/0004636963&EDATE=

So just a few more hours, then an announcement, then the clock starts a new countdown.

They are going to stretch this way out.

FYI to everyone.

Williams (now AZA formerly IWA) has announced a contest to coincide with Allegiant's announcements over the next few weeks.

Each time G4 announces a new Williams route, the airport will give away a pair of tickets on that route.

That was easy. I am hoping they will announce Lansing so I could have a good shot at the Tickets. I marked Detroit, but also put Lansing in the "Other".

Do we know if they are announcing one destination from each new base today or what? Maybe more than one?

Me too. I wonder if they had problems with the update, got attacked like Virgin, or something else. Maybe it is all the a.neters trying to see the first route announcement.

Possibly. I was thinking, if any of the destinations they currently serve have service to all 3, ie RFD, they will have a a very good possibility of gaining FLL and/or IWA. I would thinking that if there were service to the 3, and they weren't doing well, than they would have pulled it.
