Cherry Capital Airport - Traverse City

Thu Aug 09, 2007 10:34 pm

The photographs today brought a question to my mind. Is the name 'Cherry Capital' a reference to a region known for cherries? If so, isn't the spelling capitol? Doesn't capital either a financial or an architecural noun? The dictionaries and thesaurus leave me confused.

Capital is the correct term, and used appropriately in the name of TVC.

Capitol is used only in reference to the proper name on the building in Washington DC - the US Capitol.

From an agriculture standpoint, there are a lot of cherries available in the region. Some excellent ones I may add.

Call me biased, but the Michigan Cherries are the BEST. Haha, actually one would argue that the Cherry Region of Michigan is actually a little further south and west, but TC is probalby the biggest (or at least the most well know part of that region). Not only do they have phenomenal cherries, but the wine isnt that bad either!
