Amazing - nearly 700 planes and it's only August with some big potential orders still out there (BA, US majors, etc.). What a year.

Good to see you back in action NYC777

9 777s in a week is not that bad!

I am still confused about the low 737 orders!

the 777 now has 997 firm orders........

who will be the 1000th order?? Presume Boeing will do some promotion for that.

Any insight as to the 787 & 777 UFO? Specifcally the 6x788 and 12x773?

From the Boeing Orders website:

Big version: Width: 547 Height: 198 File size: 42kb
747 UFO - through July 07

Big version: Width: 560 Height: 303 File size: 62kb
777 UFO - through July 07

Big version: Width: 532 Height: 221 File size: 43kb
787 UFO - through July 07

Not to worry, BCA is sitting on a pile of 737 orders. Their available delivery dates are now beginning to reach into what some think will be the Y1 development period. If customers have better info than us on this, or at least hesitation based upon market vibes, then many of them may want to wait and see. Fortunately, I don't think Boeing will succumb to Osbourne Syndrome on this.

An opportunity for Delta? They could still use 3 more (or more than that), and would let them put off their 787 decision a bit longer.

It's an aging model, sold out through the point that many believe they will be selling it's replacement.

But it's shocking how many widebodies Boeing has sold. Their widebodies are outselling the 737NG this year. 53.5% to 46.5%.

I think Boeing shot it's own foot with all of the recent hints at a replacement sooner than later...

Unbelievable the amount of widebodies being ordered!

The 777, still my favorite plane (but only when it is in a 2-5-2 configuration). I remember some people on this forum (from the old countries no doubt) saying the 777 won't reach 1000!

Anyway, not so bad, even if outsold by A320:

Orders Jan-Jul

2006 - 410 (of these, a somewhat deforming Megaorder from Southwest = 79)
2007 - 324

Just my thoughts. The production backlog goes on for years now and if you were to place an order today, chances are you will be taking delivery of it when Boeing and Airbus are on the verge of announcing replacements for the 737 and A320 Families and bang, you've wasted your money on a near-new, yet obsolete product!  banghead

Also the low 737 orders could be attributed to A320 orders and the fact that there are a lot of 737s out there...not sure on availability of each 737 model on the second-hand market but if someone could post some rough figures that would be great!

325 orders aren't really low, honestly. It 's just lower than the last few years. But there were years, not too long ago, when the total orders for all models was 325...

Only nine widebodies and one single-aisle.

At normal discounts that adds up to only about $1.4B. worth of business. In a whole WEEK!

Still, it IS August - maybe all the salesmen are on holiday and they just left the office-boy there to answer the phone.  Smile
