More Flights Needed On MAN - NYC?

Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:30 am

At the moment. I am working at a camp about 2 hours north of Manhattan with Camp America...an English agency.

As camp is coming to an end, people are starting to book their flights home mostly to London (Heathrow) but also to Manchester as there are a lot of councellors from this area.

However, most of them are finding that there are not that many non-stop flights to Manchester left and most of them have to connect through Heathrow on BA or VS/BD.

So does anyone think more flights are needed to New York from Manchester?

Perhaps DL could start a second daily flight or VS could begin a daily?

Any thoughts?

Its very easy to get MAN from NYC. CO, BA and AA offer flights to MAN. Also you can connect in MCO via EWR and transfer to MAN on VS. You can also go via ORD, PHL and others.

I see a demand but you can always connect and who has the a/c to do a second daily or start a daily?

From what I've been told, I'm sure there should be some spare capacity to get on DL's JFK service. Or perhaps get them to fly on PK's service (perhaps it might be the cheapest option?!).

MAN-New York is more than adequately covered at the moment with BA's daily 767, DL's daily 767, CO's double daily 757 and PK's 3 or so weekly 777.

AA do not fly MAN - NYC. Its probably a codeshare with BA.

And in reference to your comment about connecting through PHL or ORD....who wants to do that and waste another few hours when you can fly non-stop which only takes 6 hours??

Is this a joke? EWR-MCO-MAN???  eyepopping

There might be 100 shorter paths daily to get from NYC to MAN

BA - MAN-JFK daily (codeshare with AA through oneworld) - 767-300ER
CO - MAN-EWR twice daily - 757-200
DL - MAN-JFK daily? - 767-300ER
PK - MAN-JFK various frequencies - 777s

VS have been rumoured for years to start MAN-NYC. And also you can fly with GSM LPL-JFK until the end of October.

Hope this helps.

I only show 1 flight between now and the first week in Sept that is completely sold out in coach class on CO from EWR.

I think the poster is not finding seats at the fare they want to pay. Not that there are no seats.
