AKL Departure Tax Exemption Stickers?

Thu Aug 16, 2007 10:20 pm

I will be flying YYZ-SFO-AKL-MEL next week with my 4 year old daughter. I read about the NZD$25 departure tax for all international passengers with the following exemption:

"Exemption stickers for children under 12 years of age and transit passengers who are in Auckland for less than 24 hours, are available at the Auckland Airport Bank of New Zealand."

We will be arriving at 05:30 in the morning and our connecting flight will leave at 07:30, will I have to go to the Bank to pick up these exemption stickers? Will the bank be open at that hour?

Thanks for your help!!

As long as you stay airside you won't need to do anything.

Have a great trip.

however if for some reason you did decide to 'land' clear customs etc that is... all you need to do is show your boarding pass at the bank and they will give you an exemption sticker.

This whole collection system will be disappearing soon and will be included in airfares as it was a Royal PITA for travellers.
Have a good trip  Smile

Can't remember sorry... but BNZ has lost the contract to be the fx dealer at the airport. Travelex will be the new one.
