THY Turkish Airlines Lease 2 A330-200

Wed Aug 22, 2007 4:50 pm

Just popped up in news feeds.
THY message to Istanbul Stock Exchange:

Two A330-200s leased from Calestiral Aviation Trading, delivery on Feb 2009.

Should be on TK's website soon.

Febuary 2009? That's a long time from now. Better late then never...
Will the registrations be TC-JNF and TC-JNG?

Could someone please tell me who Calestiral Aviation Trading are?

I find it strange, as this particular company does not appear in the Airbus spread sheet. Will they be new built ? and if so has the order been booked yet and under what name?

The news feed probably mispelled it. The actual Istanbul Stock Exchange announcement reads:

Celestial Aviation Trading 45 Limited.

The lease is for 8 yrs btw.

Neither Celestial or Calestial appear on the Airbus Spread Sheet. So they currently don't own any A330. I'm reasonably familiar with all the airlines/leasing companies that have outstanding orders for the A330 and Celestial is not one of them.

Maybe THY will opt to buy those two frames and do a BUY-LEASE back contract?

Its possible that they are a subsidiary or shelf company created specifically for this lease.

This is exactly what I was thinking, EI 321. It's quite common fo a leasing company to be set up specifically to hold one asset (or two, in this case).

A subsidiary of GECAS, based in Dublin which goes through several different jurisdictions. You need to pay to get the full details of the transaction. Refer to the following links;

http://www.ukdata.com/company-listings/Ce-14.html

Each customer is treated seperately. In some cases the frames may be owned by Airbus. Celestial is just one link in a convoluted chain. The following link shows how such transactions are structured, but not all information may be released due to differing Regulatory requirements under different jurisdictions.

Here's an example of another such structure, the one in question. You just have to pay to get more details, even then you won't get them all.

http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...Aviation+Trading+45+Limited.&meta=

CELESTIAL AVIATION TRADING 45 LIMITED Registered No. E0395130 AVIATION HOUSE, SHANNON, CO CLARE. CELESTIAL AVIATION TRADING 46 LIMITED Registered No. ...

Thank you for that PanAm_DC10, very informative and interesting.  Smile

What makes this even more interesting is that GECAS currently don't have any more A330's on order. So I'm still wondering if this will be a new order.

What has popped into my mind recently and I suspect will be very hard to answer is what Leasing Companies still have A330's (PAX) to be placed.

From what I know the following leasing companies have the following to be placed

Aercap x 30 (A332)
CIT x 15 (A332)
ILFC x 7 (A332) + 3 (A333)

Just as myself and Kaitak suspected  Wink

If you look at the Irish aircraft register, there are quite a few of these shelf companies listed as owners of civilian airliners. Its for tax reasons of course.

I would think these are new birds as THY have GE and LX has PW.

I agree, we all know that they wanted 330/340 leases sooner, maybe couldn't get anything in before that date. TK long haul fleet will be in crunch next year, knowing 3 A310s will be converted to freighters by then and the commencing of JNB/CPT next month. That leaves no room to grow for a year and a half, unless they lease more.
