I should add that for a while, DL had "courtesy clubs" at practically every airport it served. Those clubs were not staffed, but open to all with a code.

Also, not exactly sure when it was used, but I believe Eastern had an Ionasphere Club on the North Concourse at GSO where Gate 20 (which is very small, only 20 seats or so) is currently situated.

US had a club in SYR that closed a few years back. In fact, the entrance is still visible. It's a sad sight (I'd use it, too!).

TWA had an Ambassadors club in HNL for a few years then closed it, they shared it with another airline, I used this club a few times.

I still chuckle every time I walk by the US Airways club in Buffalo. It's quite a funny site in a non-hub city that has virtually no US mainline service.

Heck, GSO still has it's US Airways Club and there are no mainline flights there - all Express to LGA/DCA/CLT/PHL, nothing bigger than a CRJ-900.

Similar to the TW clubs in places like DAY, SAN, and PBI!

What happened to the people that purchased "Lifetime" membership
at EA's Ionosphere Club, did they lose out? Get any pennies on the dollar?

Probably they recevied nothing as what entity would they get something from? Easten was not purchased it jsut disappeared. In the case of TWA, the Ambassador Club Lifetime members were given 3 years of Admiral's Clb mebership IIRC.

Buffalo in fact is quite a large outstation for US. Its PAX counts are higher than several other cities which retain US clubs - notably BDL, GSO, and LGW - its numbers including Express are on par with the BWI operation.

There are several AA cities that used to have Admirals Clubs, if I'm not mistaken, among them: Cleveland, Detroit and Houston, plus a few others.
