VS And BA Non Rev Travel

Mon Aug 27, 2007 8:23 am

Good Afternoon Everyone, I haven't been around A.net for a couple of years.

I'm planning on travelling between LAX and LHR on 08/31 flight 024,returning on BA flight 289 from LHR to PHX (09/03). After looking at FLYZED.com it shows the flights as looking good, but those are not the most trustworthy indications of loads. From anyone within VS or BA are these flights actually looking good and does the PHX return usually fill up? Thanks for any help priovided

I can't help you with VS, but BA has a good site where you should list yourself for the flight although if you aren't a BA staff. You can also see how many ID's are already listed for every single flight and of course the capacity and availability of the flights are shown there.

idtravel.ba.com - try out!  Wink

With supposedly mandatory listing on BA, persons with a listing should have priority than staff just turning up at check in.

This website should be excellent at estimating your chances, but gives extremely basic indications of booking levels and innaccurate staff numbers

DXB-LHR recently - late flight had no staff showing, the morning one had 8 staff showing. I decided to take the evening flight although it was busy as there was no staff listed.

Arrived at check in and had to wait until the last minute, luckily they were kind enough to give me a club seat as it was otherwise full. I asked how many staff were listed for the flight, 12 I was told.

Dont trust the website, its inaccurate - just list there as a matter of procedure, otherwise you might not get on.

The website is actually quite accurate with regards to staff listed with a higher priority....that's what it is designed to show. While you might not have seen anyone listed with a higher priority than you, they could have been others listed for your flight.

Also, staff can list up to -60 from departure and therefore could have listed after you checked, or indeed at the airport before checking in. Any staff listed on the earlier flight, but did not get on are automatically transferred to the later flight, which then impacts on the staff figures.

How do you use/sign up to use flyzed?

I'm thinking of using BA staff travel to Bali in feb, is there any way of finding out in advance the loads now? or projected loads?

Which route were you thinking of taking?

I fly several times a year between LHR and Bali. I go BA to Hong Kong (as there are 3 daily flights), overnight in Hong Kong and then go down to Bali on Cathay Pacific the next morning.

Non-reving with BA to Hong Kong just requires some planning. Barring peak seasons the flights run hot-and-cold. One day they may be full, the next empty. I went to Bali in Feb 2 years ago. Outbound the flight was wide-open, back to LHR it was full, but everyone got on. The next day the HKG-LHR flights were all wide-open.

The Cathay flights are to HKG never full, esp in feb.

I was looking at going via HKG.

But am quite tempted at booking on SQ for £550 as its a confirmed seat! Not too fussed about flights to get there but I need to be back to work. How much is it for standby to DPS?

Not sure if the link to that site should be made public since it is intended only for airline staff.
