Wtop (DC Radio): FAA Orders Em'cy Repairs For 737s

Tue Aug 28, 2007 10:27 am

On my way home from work just now, I heard on WTOP radio in DC that the FAA has just ordered emergency repairs to all 737s. (The report actually used the term Emergency Airworthiness Directive, so I think it's probably accurate.) This is due to the preliminary results of the China Airlines investigation that a loose part in the wing dislodged and punctured a fuel tank on the 737, leading to a fuel leak and its explosion when it landed. According to the report, the FAA ordered examination of 737s, and many US jets were found to have the same loose part in the wings.
