Returning from vacation in FLL my wife and I flight departed the domestic terminal of the FLL/Hollywood airport. In the line waiting with our boarding passes we were pulled from the line when our passports identified our nationality. We were placed in a glass area subject to a verbal "rough housing" by TSA, searched in full view of other passengers and then left there without being told whether we can leave.
One TSA personnel said "What they do here is b*llsh*t, it ain't right" and stormed away in disgust. An Italian visitor was subject to the same treatment. An American citizen who said she had a replaced hip was just scanned with a metal detector and let go.We sat and waited while they rechecked us for explosives etc. Finally we were told to leave, I requested my boarding pass which I had to wait for longer than I should have as they had to check it for explosive residue. I asked a TSA agent why I was subjected to that he said "I dunno man"
This is the third time TSA has made me think really bad of them as they have subjected my wife to worst treatment in Miami claiming she had explosives on the sole of her shoe and threated to lock me up if I didn't leave so they can "abuse/search" her. It is really unfair to treat foreigners that way as that only breeds hatred in people.
Of note, the first incident involved taking a plastic bow and arrow toy set for 4 yr old's from my checked luggage and saying "we have a situation here" , to which the supervisor asked the agent if the bow and arrow was really what the situation was about to pull me from boarding my flight.
Mind you I have forgiven them, but I think they why Americans are hated by "foreigners".
