Thankfully it seems all is ok.

Latest report is that a passenger plane was diverted to East Midlands Airport after developing technical problems.
The Thomson Fly aircraft took off from Doncaster's Robin Hood Airport and developed problems with a wheel.

The plane is now reported as originally heading for Corfu and landed safely at the East Midlands airport at about 1800 BST.

Emergency services were called out to the runway and the fire crews foamed the aircraft down as part of standard procedures.

There were no reports of any casualties so lets hope all has ended well.

My wife was just speaking to a colleague at Nottingham's University Hospital who told her that they had been placed on a "high alert" owing to this incident and were preparing to receive casualties and making preparations to send as many in-patients home as possible to create space.

Quoting NEMA (Reply 2):
There were no reports of any casualties so lets hope all has ended well.

Good news if that remains the case.

I actually saw this Thomsonfly 757 circling several times . I first noticed it at 17-30hrs and saw the landing gear down which I thought was odd but did'nt take much notice at the time as I was busy preparing dinner until 17-55hrs when it was heading in an easterly direction towards Nottingham, inbound for Runway 27. I then realised that Thomsonfly don't come in to EMA at that time of day
It landed at safely at EMA 18-00hrs BST.
It HAD taken off from Doncaster, Robin Hood Airport, ( as stated by NEMA) at 15-50hrs BST,bound for Corfu when it developed problems with the front landing gear. Saw the news report on Central News. Everyone on board was safe.
Any ID on the aircraft? I thought it looked like G-BYAF.

If you click on the below link, it shows BBC East Mdlands Today's regional news program and in the first five minutes it shows some footage...

They have pictures of the aircraft coming into land and the undercarrage on fire being dampened down by the fire service.

Not sure how long BBC keep the local news programs posted for:

I saw this on the BBC news last night - they were talking like an aircraft had crashed or something! "The pilots declared a full emergency" - in actual fact they declared a PAN.

It just blew a tyre on take-off and diverted into EMA - seems to be a lot of fuss about a minor issue here!
