Misunderstood... The Safari Park members have made the inspection onboard to seek more snakes. Any notice about from where the snakes came from.

Gerard

Surprised this doesn't happen more often... a/c are warm (while on the ground in a warm place like MAD or TLV), have lots of small dark places... comfy for reptiles (if not stowaways). Big grin

There was a story like this in the US's "Reader's Digest" some months back.
"Why does a slight tax increase cost you $200 and a substantial tax cut save you 30 cents?"

I guess they just take a leisurely stroll across the tarmac and runways then - Talk about jay-walking

Don't laugh, it happens easier then you think

Ansett had a snake on a plane, which i believe if i recall correctly ended up killing a small girl when she bent over to get something from underneath her feet. Anyway after not being able to find the thing the aircraft was sealed and fumigated with poisons and CO2 in order to make sure it was dead.

A320 i believe was in question, and it was suspected that the snake claimed aboard at Alice springs via some cargo... some of the places cargo may be stored on the way may indeed be an easy way for snakes to gain access...this is before 9/11 mind u...little less security.

The link says the snakes probably got into the a/c a TLV......security has been very tight there at TLV even way before 9/11.......so it can happen everywhere no matter security level

There are snakes in israel but in the desert, not in TLV area, hence strange how that could happen. On an other not australia is full of snakes so if it usually never happens there where probability is much higher that a snake could make it's way to the airplane weird that it happend in MAD or TLV.

Hmmm... I'm somehow not really sure I would appreciate Israeli cuisine easily. Or maybe I'd just skip the dessert and opt for cheeses instead.  Wink

on a different note: whats about that movie? bought a copy in DXB some month back and still havent had time to watch it. the titel would tell me its not worth the time anyway, but then, there might be a plane...

Snakes and other animals, usually rodents and bugs, getting on a plane is not all that unusual. They come aboard in bags, cargo and sometimes climb aboard on their own. I know one airline has taken planes with snakes aboard that they could not find up to Alaska in the winter and put a heat lamp under the belly. The snakes will find the heat when the plane cools and they are easy to remove at that point.

Best wishes,
