GoJet Adds 4 More CRJ-700s To Fleet

Mon Sep 03, 2007 10:47 am

Sounds like the fleet is going to go up to 19 by 2009. The 4 aircraft added will be used under United Express with deliveries in 2008/2009.

Aren't they CRJ700's? I thought AC Jazz only flew the 705.

Sounds goods.

UA has indicated it would take as many 70 seaters its partners could provide. Only last week Republic announced it had signed for 10 more E-170s with United. The three cabin ExPlus (F, Y+, Y) product has really been received well and allowed UA to supplement its mainline domestic fleet.

I wonder if they would ever start FSD-IAD with a CR7 or E170 with one flight a day.

you pose a good question. A think alot of the strong midwestern stations for UA like DSM, CID, MLI, FSD etc should be connected to the IAD hub, even if that comes at the expense of an ORD flight. Connections could be made at IAD for east coast and southeast destinations, not to mention built in O/D traffic to the DC area. ORD is busting at the seems while IAD could handle more traffic flows.

haha, FSD just got mainline back...hold on to that. We need to prove that the market is there before we schedule 2+ hour runs on a crj or emb. If that were to happen, I would expect Skywest to take that route.

Speaking of Trans States, there is no solid release, but rumor is there are more opportunities if they can find aircraft.

I wouldnt be so quick to assume Skywest would do it. Skywest has 0 operations in IAD.
Pleanty of other 70 seat operators in IAD that could handle the route(s).
I just Googled your Yahoo :)

Has GoJet been having trouble with staffing? I don't disagree with your assement, but I'd only heard about Mesa CXing tons of UAX flying.

I'm sure they are happy to steal more flying which should be on the TSA seniority list.

Although Mesa unsuprisingly pioneered this crap when the started Freedom. Thank goodness the Mesa ALPA group stood up to JO and ended the two seniority list whipsaw. Hopefully when contract time comes around at TSA, they can force Hulas to merge the seniority lists, preferrably with GoJet stapled to the bottom of the TSA list.

Why do they have DSM-IAD (or DCA, i cant remember), when they could get a similar amount of passengers at FSD? Couldnt they get a similar amount plus the O and D traffic on those flights?

Go jets doesn't fly DSM-IAD for United.

Northwest flies DSM-DCA.

You think that FSD would get similar numbers to DSM? DSM has, (read carefully), twice the amount of O&D to Washington as FSD. DSM is also a larger area with a larger catchment population. Also, the State capital - Washington DC flights usually pick up a good amount of business traffic.

FSD isnt all you seem to think it is.

Hmm, lets think here now:

1. A South Dakota Senator lives in Sioux Falls
2. Sanford Health (One of the largest hospitals in the midwest) has many personnel travel to DC to other hospitals
3. Citibank, Wells Fargo, US Bank all have Northern US State bases in Sioux Falls that also travel to the capitol

Sanford and the banks also go to MKE as well, which could entice YX with the D328's that are opening from CR2 upgrades to OMA and DLH.

All of which are served much better with FSD-MSP or FSD-ORD.

Well, except for the senator maybe, but I don't think they'll start a route for him alone....

Absolutely sir. Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think you can call them scabs per-se, but they certainly are a new breed of hyper-scab, for sure.

A friend of mine was all about going there, "to fly big CRJ's", till I informed him that he'll never work for a union airline again. Not to mention the majority of their pilots are former TWA pilots, which I kind of don't blame them- they did get shafted by ALPA and APA.

Yeah I bet TSA and Chautauqua BOTH want to merge back into their holdings company as both airlines got screwed by their American Connection Contracts. TSA's contract should be re-upped around 2010. Thankfully American ownes those EMB's that we are flying, they need to go get brokend-up in some desert (my opinion).

If I remember correctly, United use to operate DSM-ORD-DCA same plane on a 757 for the am and evening departure.

--GoJet pilots do have a contract that was signed with Hulas in August. You gotta remember thou, some of the captains at GoJet are ex-TWA, and they remember how ALPA treated them before. Most young capts, from what I hear, leave GoJet to fly for Southwest, Continental and JetBlue, one or two left to fly cargo with a large, ALPA-union carrier as well. I had few friends leave to fly corporate Challengers as well.

I hear the contract didn't change much of how management treated pilots, it just clarified how they are going to be treated. From what I've seen, less Juniors, more time at home, and opening of a Chicago Pilot Base for G7.

Not on the pilot-side at least. Plenty of young potential-scabs out there who want their job and aren't good enough to get hired elsewhere!!
