Avro RJ Exclusive Routes In Europe

Fri Sep 07, 2007 8:31 pm

All,

Can someone help with identifying exclusive Avro RJ / Bae 146 routes that are operated within Europe please.

1 off the top of my head is BHX - MUC with LH.

Any help would be greatly appriciated

CDG to ZRH on AF is exclusivly operated by BAE146-200. It is not AF direct, but WX.

I almost forgot. Almost all SN Brussels european routes are BAe/ARJ operated.

All DUB-CDG and DUB-LCY are operated by Air France by Cityjet (WX) BAE146's.

Atlantic Airways operates routes from Torshavn, Farao Islands to Copenhagen, Stavanger, Oslo, and London (LGW). There may be additional ones on a seasonal or contract basis. From what I know, their sole equipment is either BAE-100 or 200.

Hope this helps.

Actually, they don't fly from Torshavn to Stavanger and Oslo. However, you can often see them there as they do a lot of ad-hoc charter domestically in Norway, mainly for an oil service company called Aker Kværner, which need to transport their employees between their project sites

Many flights from LCY are ARJs, all Cityjet flights are 146s.

Swiss operats those routes exclusively with Avro's:

ZRH - NUE
ZRH - Stuttgart
ZRH - LCY
GVA -LCY
GVA -Valencia
ZRH - WAW

On top of that all flights to from BSL also operated on Avro so in case you want to have a 99.9% chance to fly an Avro those routes and all of BSL are always Avro's. There are more routes from GVA and also ZRH just echeck on LX website.

It was announced a month or so ago - with all of CB's routes being taken over by AF/WX at the beginning of September IIRC

I think MUC-SJJ is one them too.

Quoting Stylo777 (Reply 10):

Historical reasons, THF was open only to airlines belonging to the Allies.

I agree. I flew that route years ago and THF is one of the most special airports I've seen. Go there while you can!

Simply check the schedules of Brussels Airlines......the AVRO is the backbone of their European fleet and a huge percentage of shorthaul flights from BRU to European destinations are operated with the RJ85 or RJ100. Their online schedules indicate aircraft type.

I was gonna say ARJ/146, but I thought you would see it as one and the same as they are pretty similar aircraft.

Yes ZRH-LUX is only operated with Avro RJ-100's. Back when Crossair operated the route they used the Avro Jet, Saab 2000's and ERJ-145's.
US Airways I miss you!

Not quite true. THF was first used as West-Berlin´s airport but was too small so TXL was build in the 1970s. After that THF was only used for US military flights with the exception of Tempelhof Airways.
Berlin flights to THF and TXL were only operated by British, French and US airlines.
The reason why SN only flies to THF and not to TXL has nothing to do with that. They just prefer THF over TXL for some reasons (location not as crowded as TXL better slots etc...)

Malmö Aviation fly domestic in Sweden and they have some international routes as well. All are done with ARJs IIRC and they have a hub at BMA. I flew them this spring and I thought they were really good!

Not all. BHD-LCY is AF by WX operated by CB. CB use the Dornier 328.

There was originally hype of using 146's but the loads havent materialised to warrant the upgrade, currently during the week with the exception of Monday and Friday theres frequently less than 8 pax. Sundays, Mondays and Fridays have maybe 20 pax. Saturday only has one flight with about 10 on it. Hardly worth a 146/ARJ.

One thing deterring full loads could well be the fares, last time I checked they were about £300 one way, BD have them about £200 one way (in proper sh business) - and they have their own lounge.
Another is the timings and frequency - 3 times a day M-F, 1 Sat and 2 Sunday, first departure at 7.50am. BD have 8 daily M-S and Sun has 6. First departure 6.30am, second 7.10am. BD is to LHR but when using the HEX you can be in the city before 9am. BE also have an LGW out at 7am and theres 5 or 6 a day.
The third maybe is FF status. Why fly domestic UK for status on the continent (AF/KM) when you can fly BD for UK and continental use (LH, SK, JK, et al)

Agree. On the other hand, 5-abreast seating on the Avro RJ/BAe146 is excellent, as on LX and SN.
