Now, I just couldn't let a chance to remember pass by!
I often think about it still - even the yellow floor tiles in the terminal . . . walking to the lift, up to floor 7 of the car park . . . the site of a Cathay jet banking for the final turn and another just appearing over Stonecutter's island . . . walking (it was much more fun that way) up to Chequerboard Hill, stopping on street corners . . . camera on manual focus (the autofocus didn't focus on time!) - whine of RB211, sky darkens . . . click! . . . the sight of aircraft making their final turn, seeing them almost at eye level or even overhead . . . Alitalia and Korean Air making a pig's breakfast of things (they always seemed to!) . . . the sight of the outstretched runway at sunset, lights blazing. Oh, it was wonderful, just wonderful . . .
And yes, there were a few go arounds, and more than a few landings that should have been go arounds!
What a place!
