I've been wanting to go the Reno Air Races for thirty years or more and never really had a chance to get there, so I am very envious.

I'm going to try and get up there on Saturday. I'm on call from work too, but I'm going to try to get someone to cover me so I can get up there. I have a couple of acquantances that are racing (bro-in-law is on their pit crew) so we'll probably spend quite a bit of time around the hangers. Like I said, we'll have to see what happens with work though.

I was going to go... Some friends and I had box seats for the races, but I had to pull out at the last minute due to work.... Bummer too, as it sounds like it is going to be a great year. I was looking forward to seeing Mike Brown defend his championship (it sounds like he has made some serious upgrades to September Fury).

Oh well... There is always next year

I'm in Reno every now and then and have never gone out of my way to watch the air races. Are they worth going to?

Hell yea! Its unlike any other airshow, there are hardly any breaks in the action and of course you have the unlimited pushing their engines to the edge, or even over. It is a blast, the grand stands are actually a great spot for most of the action.

www.famousredplanes.com ...to see drop dead cool photo of the two fastest Reno racer's. ...P51 Mustang "Dago Red" and Grumman Bearcat "Rare Bear" neck and neck and ball's out at around 500mph and 50feet. I'd say it is probably one awesome spectacle and not to be missed if you have the chance.

Looks like I've managed to get myself up there and I'll be getting in on Friday also. You staying in town, or out at Stead? I should be up there around 7:30pm on Friday and I'll be pulling out on Sunday once the action is over.

I'd love to go someday, but I'm going to the Red Bull Air Race in SAN in two weeks, which will be fun, but not the same.
I love ASO!

I should be getting in to Reno at about the same time. I am staying in Reno until Monday. I'll be at the races both days. Then I am headed for Napa with the wife.

My first post here on A.net. I live here in Reno and will be at the air races Saturday and Sunday. Last year was my first year going to the races and just like other racing you can get very addicted to the Air Races.

I'm heading to RNO tomorrow and will be staying till Sunday morning.

However, I didn't realize that the races were going on until after I decided to go to Reno. I'm just going up for a little family get together. But while I'm there I'll keep an eye out towards Stead and see what I can see.

At least the action is back on after being stopped again after today's midair. I'm at Stead now and will be hanging around for the next couple of days until Sunday night. This is my 3rd time in the last 5 races, and I'm already planning on coming up for the entire week next year to see the qualifying etc.

RareBear... right before his throttle got stuck wide open!  Smile Nice to see that it was a relatively uneventful weekend after the events leading into it. Also, I've only ever caught the Thunderbird years, so it was cool seeing the Snowbirds up there.

My first chance to look at the results, ...which seem to hint that "Rare Bear" may have been lucky to win from last years winner "September Fury" and which apparently did not finish in the 2007 Gold final, but had finished 1st in all the qualifying races.
