This news is a little old and have been trying to recruit in Dubai for several months in the airline press...

Them flying to LTN-DXB is still a rumour and has not been confirmed. There is speculation LTN-ORD will also be the next route they fly.

They were supposed to annouce their second destination during August, but nothing got announced, and also one of their 762's went tech and had to suspent their 2nd service between LTN-EWR until the 25th September.

They are running short of time and leaving it a little late if they intend to start a new route from November...

I just hope SilverJet know what they are doing if they launch LTN-DXB, as I think they will really feel the pressure from Emirates which offer a more superior product in both First and Business class. They also boast about nine flights a day and SilverJet will never be able to match this frequency, also much of the traffic on this route is connecting

Filling 100 seats on an aircraft once a day isn't that difficult, even if Emirates do have a more frequent service, some people may see Silverjet as being better because they don't have cattle class, so they do not have to travel with the proletariat!

The other main thing is the price, we cannot speculate until we know how much Silverjet will charge, even though Emirates would probably match it.

The main problem is that not may Emirates passengers actually travel to Dubai. So having a nonstop but nonconnecting service may be a problem. In the winter maybe there will be enough Holiday Type passengers...Not sure about the summer though it is tough then.

Couldn't agree more - and add to this that BA also offers better frequencies than SilverJet would; only VS flies 1x daily AFAIK.

Also, if you're wallot is thick enough to fly J class, why on earth go all the way to Luton?

Anyways, in general I'm sceptic about independent all-J airlines - specifially, they can't match the frequencies, FFPs etc. of the "normal" airlines, and their inflight product is often inferior to J or F on normal carriers. Who cares about whether or not there are 200 low-yield working class holiday-makers behind the curtain? You aren't likely to see any of them anyway. All-J aircraft at normal airlines (or arrangements like KL and PrivatAir etc.), now that's another matter - here, you don't have the problems mentioned - but SilverJet is really starting up up-hill. While I'm sceptic about them flying Luton-New York, doing Luton-Dubai seems outright stupid.

It may be that they will offer JFK-LTN-DXB at the through fare and then make it very attractive to the US travellers? Then lest take Kevin777 remark about Luton. Interestingly there are more people living within 75 miles of Luton and Stansted and also the Midlands passengers who are many and varied. Not everyone lives in London!!
