Business Good For AC 6-years After 9/11

Wed Sep 12, 2007 4:21 am

A link to an interview with Montie Brewer , CEO of AC.

The difference between the E190 and the A319 is of interest but I don't believe this is fresh information. The operational savings of the 777's versus the A340's , is however, new information , I believe.

He also states that the 787 will allow for a 30% savings over the 767 they well be replacing. 37 plus 23 options works out to pretty close to the number of 767 in the fleet. I think we may see some additional orders as well, probably for the 777 because there were 18 343 and 330 in the fleet so 17 will leave them 1 short of what they have now for the combined type.

I thought I heard that before but not from AC itself. Also, the new CFO of Air Canada came to AC in 2004 from Emirates and has really helped bring the company right around from bankruptcy. I hope the end of the labour contracts in 2009 doen't sink AC, we need a strong international airline here in Canada.

The article makes reference to a savings of 19% operating the E190 over the A319. Proportionately speaking, the A319 is still more efficient per seat. What most may not know,is that AC purchased the E190 for about half the price of a A319.
