Why Can't I Book AC857?

Wed Sep 12, 2007 7:26 pm

OK, can someone enlighten me on this. Im trying to book a ticket to Orlando in the next week-ten days. I wanted to fly AC, but for some reason it wont let me book AC857 LHR-YYZ connecting to MCO. 857 is their only 77W flight - on the days of the week when it is a 333 it lets me book it though! All other AC flights are available to book, and if i try only LHR-YYZ it will let me book 857, but not as a connecting flight! Websites such as expedia etc do the same. Why is this? Do they not want connecting passengers to fly on their lovely new plane? Info appreciated!

I've noticed the limited options AC's booking system gives for connecting flights. It's actually not working too good. It Wouldn't even give me AMS-YYZ-SCL saying that there were no connections.. It's sort of like the system decides for you what a logical and convenient connection is instead of giving you all the options. There is a very simple way around it though: Just search for a multi-city trip LHR-YYZ, YYZ-MCO, MCO-YYZ, YYZ-LHR. Then each segment will be individually and you'll get all the options.

I think your problem has more to do with the 5 hour 20 minute connection. The other flights offered would make much more sense to the system. Air Canada's website does permit it to be booked as long as you select multi city and request the segments individually.

Possibly something to do with the way they manage their O&D availability. It's not usual to offer disfavourable availability on connections vs point-to-point, but it does happen.

AirScoot, the connection shouldnt be an issue, seeing as they were giving me the option of a 9hour or so stopover, or an overnight stay catching the MCO flight the next morning! As I said also, only on the days when it is the 77W it does not come up, the other days of the week AC857 is available as an option! Also, if i book multi-segment flights, how would that affect connectivity, such as the transfer of my bags etc? Would I have to exit and re-check in at Toronto?
