This is excellent news. The only doubt that currently remain is the model break down for the A330. I'm crossing my figures in the hope that its the A330-300 model that was chosen.  Smile

Just in case anyone was interested Airbus has now booked a total of 139 firm orders for the A330 series in 2007.  Wow!

We still have the following to firm up their orders.  Wink
Libyan Airlines x 4 *(pending)
Oman Air x 6 *(pending)
Kingfisher x 10 *(pending)
TAM x 4 *(pending)
ACT Airlines x 2
Royal Air Force x 14 *(pending)
Royal Saudi Air Force x 2 *(pending)
United Arab Emirates Air Force x 3 *(pending)
Aer Lingus x 6 *(pending)
Swiss International Airlines x 9

Still plenty of action to come in the future. Smile

Yes I also wonder why  Big grin

Well Airbus currently have 139 firm orders for the A330. It also has around 60 pending orders. Which combined gives us a total of 199 orders/commitments.

I will also give you another interesting peice of information. The year 2007 has become the best year ever (sales) for the A330/A340 family.  Wink

Thought EI had firmed up their order? They received board approval at their AGM a couple of months back

Well maybe they can look towards their neighbour (CX) for some guidance.  Wink

As a family yes the A330/A340 family has done remarkably well. Individually the A340 has also done reasonably well in 2007, with a total of 18 orders + 5 commitments ( Kingfisher A345)

Despite gathering 18 orders + 5 options, Airbus recorded 20 cancelations for the A340 series. (Emirates x 18 A346, and LAN x 2 A343)

It's not yet on the Airbus O&D spreadsheet (neither is their A250 order) so it still looks to be pending

Excellent news, i really hope the success of the A330 will continue at this rate some years more. Now i'm hoping for the A350 to get some sales.  crossfingers

Good work Airbus and Hong Kong Airlines! They bought the most comfortable and technologically advanced plane in its class - certainly they will have many years of service out of them.

WINGS, I don't disagree with you about who who will place the next big order but he was talking about a real biggie.....
Big version: Width: 450 Height: 428 File size: 73kb

And I still suspect this could also be a biggie location:
Big version: Width: 450 Height: 305 File size: 51kb

There's still a long way to go before all the alliances deserve a star...

The Boeing 737 family - 100,200,300,400,500,600,700,800,900, is without a doubt the most sold family in jet powered commercial history, with over 7,000 + sold.

The Airbus A32X family - A318, A319, A320, A321 is the second best sold family in history with over 5350+ frames sold since the early 1980's.

I suspect that Airbus considers the A32X to be more successful because its still remains as a one generation, while the 737 family is broken down into three generations,(100,200) (300,400,500) and the (NG 600,700,800,900)

Then we also have to take into account that the 737 entered commercial service in 1968, while the A320 entered service in 1988, basically two decades latter.

It would seem that the A32X has achieved more in a shorter time period.

What I don't know is who has more customers the A320 family or the 737 family.
