What is going on at CVG?? I don't understand what deltas master plans are for CVG??? maybe someone can fill me in. I am guessing that DL does not really know either.
Its almost a focus city right now barely holding onto its hub name. Last time i was there it looked pretty dead not crowded at all, most gates were empty and looked hardly used. Very clean hub though and pretty nice. Even huge markets such as EWR, PHL, DCA, IAD, MIA, cannot support ANY mainline service. These markets use to see 757s and even 767s to CVG? It really has become RJ central. Even JFK sees 1 mainline fligth a day and thats a delta hub. some ATL flights have even been reduced to CRJs. I know delta has a shortage of mainline planes but it makes lots of profit in CVG. Does anyone think that mainline service will resume in the future or will it remain the RJ capital of the world???
DL seems to be putting all mainline aircraft on JFK, SLC, ATL routes and it is very clear, that this is DLs future. Even though im sure CVG is larger it reminds me of MEM, PIT, STL the red headed step children in the airline world. Its a shame because CVG offers some great alternatives on the east coast to delay prown JFK and ATL and could be a good asset for DL. Has anyone in CVG seen any recent additions of flights, new destinations, or reductions?? Is the CVG area loosing population or is DL just being smart and making tons of money with little competition and using few mainline aircraft???
