I noticed that the photo of the helicopter in the thread starter was taken at MME. I used to live near there and regularly saw a rally-style Ford Focus with (Colin?) McRae titles in the back windows. Actually, maybe it was not Colin McRae - did he or maybe his brother/cousin have some association with the north-east of England too?

My gosh! Shocking and sad news, if he is indeed dead
Quoting National757 (Reply 11):
That's a little disrespectful, don't ya think?
Quoting Swiftski (Reply 2):
I'm assuming (and I hope I'm wrong) that because none of his family, or himself have come forward and said "I'm fine" that he was onboard
Quoting Ajd1992 (Reply 9):
Wow...that's unreal. Richard Burns, now McRae.
|Quoting Swiftski (Reply 21):
www.colinmcrae.com is now blank.

I know, especially as its just two years since Tony Park and Markko Martin were killed.
Quoting Fbgdavidson (Reply 23):
For British rallying to lose Burns and McRae so early in their lives is extremely sad indeed.
Quoting Legoguy (Reply 1):
Probably one of the most famous rally driver's due to his rally games on computers.
Quoting Jamie757 (Reply 29):
It appears that the boss of Prodrive, Dave Richards and his wife have been involved in a helicopter crash today, no fatalities though.
Quoting Andz (Reply 28):
Hardly. More likely due to his exploits on the rally track in the real world.
