Quoting Vasu (Reply 2): Even since the split of Serbia and Montenegro?
Many things still remain since that split But i am a bit surprised that JAT have been allowed to continue that route, but Tivat needs it!
JAT is not the greatest of airlines, to be honest. But they try very hard. The aircraft are on the antique side but very well maintained. You'll fly on a Boeing 737-300 (probably dating from the 1980s You will be treated to one of the most beautiful approches and landings that Europe has to offer at Tivat. The airport is located in a valley in the Boka Kotorska and the plane makes a sharp turn in the final seconds on landing..
You will also have beautiful Montenegro waiting for you. Enjoy the flight and country (just 11months to wait for it )
Not this year they didnt and its looking unlikely for next year also. JAT did not get the permission from the Montenegro government. Too much BS and red tape!!! London office only found out in March that they wernt getting a LHR to TIV flight. Dont see how Balkan Holidays and others can say its gonna be JAT!!!
Wow, LHR-TIV will be flying next year! Who did you book your holiday through... Was it Holiday Option?
I was supposed to fly this route last year, but my flight got changed and ended up flying Croatia Airlines, LGW-DBV and had a 4 hour coach journey down to Petrovac around the Bay of Kotor... The journey was beautiful, but it was extremely time consuming and was stuck at the Croatian/Montenegro boarder for about 1 hour. There was some confusion, as we were only transiting through Croatia and caused some complications.
Also the days we travelled to and from DBV the ferry across the Bay of Kotor was not operating, or so the tour operator told us!
The whole journey was very frustrating when Tivat is only about 10mins further flying time from London and saves so much time. I would recommend Montenegro to anyone for a holiday!
Last time I flew to Tivat was in 1989, and that was on an Adria Airways MD-82 charter flight LTN-TVT... I was only 11 years old then, but I still remember the approach and was full of last minute turns. It looked like the wings were almost touching the hillside as we flew in... I think it is supposed to be one of Europe's most challenging approaches.
