OJ Simpson Flies US

Thu Sep 20, 2007 12:19 pm

According to this article, he's currently aboard US888 LAS-FLL. In coach no less. Apparently the media tried to buy the seat from someone seated behind him. What a zoo....

Interesting that he doesn't charter his own plane just to avoid this whole circus. The genius anchor on KLAS-TV in Las Vegas incorrectly identified OJ as flying on United Airways to FLL....which once again proves the media doesn't know jack about aviation.

Maybe he thought that flying Y class on US might help when his case comes to trial. He can argue that Y class on US Airways was already enough punishment and hope it convinces the judge to knock a year or two off his sentence.

Renting a jet shows that he has money to spare...and there's a civil judgement against him. If he appears to be broke and having to fly (gulp!) coach, it makes him appear poor and unable to make ANY payments.

And a Las Vegas TV anchor can't even get the name of airline right that HUBS in his city?

Enough about OJ. The guy doesn't deserve the bandwith. It was enough seeing his car driving down the freeway splattered all over the TV today. Blah! Shows the American media has nothing better to do than to sensationalize controversial celebrity (term used very lightly) events when their are much more important things going on in the world. Show me the jury verdict when they finally put this jackass away for years. Who cares about the rest.

But, I will say that this was pretty funny:

He traveled with his girlfriend, Christie Prody.. Wouldn't it have been a shame to assign them seats on opposite ends of the plane and give the papparazi the seat next to him?

(Also... any papparazi out there, his phone number and email addy were in the PNR... $20,000, any takers?)  Wink

Yes. The court did take his passport, so he cannot travel anywhere outside of the US. The court also said he can only travel in the lower 48 States, so no trips to Alaska or Hawaii.

It's up to the judge. They can order you to stay in the city, in the state, in the country, on earth, or in jail. They can also release you on bail and order you to stay away from people/places while on bail.

I thought the thread would be interested from the standpoint, that he's more infamous than famous, and I wondered how it would be to be on the same plane as him, either as a passenger or crew. As you can see from the photos, it was a zoo. I think I might have requested to get off the plane if I had been scheduled to fly on it.

While a huge pile of charges was put on OJ, the reality is that he's only charged with armed robbery because some other people in the group he was with supposedly had guns.

As criminal charges go - these are near the bottom end of the felony scale. People charged with such a crime are almost always allowed to post bail and go to their home - even in other states.

OJ is very easily able to prove his real residence is in Florida and that he depends upon the ability to travel throughout the US to earn an income. The court is not going to restrict his travel under those conditions unless there is very strong evidence of a history of running from prosecution, or evidence that he might be a physical threat to harm someone.

Yes, I know - I also believe he murdered his wife - but the court system has to treat him as not guilty of that crime.

I seriously doubt OJ posted the bail because if he had that much cash - it would have been seized for the civil judgement. He almost always flies in coach these days unless he is catching a ride on a friend's aircraft or a corporate aircraft.

The Goldman family is not getting much of OJ's money - the lawyer are. But that is fine with them. When they filed the suit and since they have been consistent - they want to deny OJ the opportunity to make money off murdering their son, and to take away from him the opulent lifestyle he had before.

They have put major crimps in his lifestyle and his freedom - especially when it comes to money. How much he's got hidden - who knows - but the Goldman's are offering top dollar to people who find OJ's assets.

Oh, and the Brit media didn't have a field day with the McCann's on Easyjet from Potugal?

When I saw the McCann's walking down the steps with the large Easyjet lettering plastered across the fuselage, the first thought I had was if that were America, we'd be all over them for a trip report, ferreting every bit of minutiae about the flight. How about an advertisement: "The McCann's Fly Easyjet!"

Here in the United States we go to absurd, even juvenile lengths in search of celebrity crime entertainment news. Fox had feed from a helicopter hovering abeam the USAirways A320 as it took the active runway with O.J. aboard. Taking videos of a plane carrying O.J was about as silly as the KABC Astar videoing the Beechcraft King Air 200 with John Mark Karr as it took-off from runway 25L at Long Beach for Colorado some months ago. In that case the news organizations missed the boat- they should have had the State of Colorado King Air catered with fried King prawns and Chardonnay to resemble the Thai Airways flight Karr had in Business Class from Bangkok to Los Angeles.

Finally, the news media usually finds the most obscure facts to report for news. Did you know that O.J. and his girlfriend were picked up in Ft. Lauderdale in a Ford Excursion? Whatever else he is, O.J. is still loyal to Fords, be they Broncos or Excursions.

Wouldn't charting a jet e a lavish display of wealth? isn't he supposed to be in the poor house? Would the Goldmans take issue with him charting a jet?

Too bad they did not reserve this seat for him.

Defintely can't afford to charter a jet. Don't forget the Goldman's and thier judgement award they are trying to collect. If he wanted the privacy, which I doubt, maybe he could have charter a Cessna or a Piper.

I wonder if OJ Simpson and the people with him get the SSSS treatment by the TSA. He probably purchased his ticket at the last minute, he has a criminal/arrest record, was found not guilty but found liable for killing 2 people, so could be a prime candidate for it  scratchchin
I hope they gave him the middle seat in the tightest pitch coach row.  cheeky
If I am correct, didn't OJ take a flight LAX to ORD the morning after the killings of his wife and Goldman? I recall that same morning, I transferred from the Bradley Int'l terminal from a flight from AUK to get my continuing flight to EWR. I believe that I didn't find out about the killings until after I got to EWR later that afternoon.
