707 At JFK

Sun Sep 23, 2007 3:55 am

This is for all the 707 lovers out there. I'm guessing for this UN thing going on. An Angolan Goverment 707 just landed in JFK and was taxing to park, I saw it taxing in but could not get the reg. Please add any info. Just saw it for 2 minutes outside my office window.

Does JFK handle diplomatic traffic though?

Oh yeah, there will be a ton of stuff coming this weekend...Probably to both JFK and EWR.

Where do all these birds park at JFK, I've always wondered....

Back in the old days, all foreign government a/c were parked at the Pan Am hangar facilities. This was mostly do to the fact that Pan Am was the ground handler for these carriers plus in those days it was thought to be a secure operation.

Unfortunately, this B707 of DR of Congo is impounded and won't be flying to New York. It's at Lanseria right now.

In the past a lot of them have fly out and stay for the duration at Newburgh and Westover.

That's one of only 3 ex-QF 707-138Bs known to still be intact. Originally VH-EBG, delivered September 1959.

Back when I worked at JFK it wasn't uncommon to see VIP aircraft parked on the ramp at TWA hangar 12,that may have changed in recent years however.
Yes, I actually *do* work for an airline, how about you?
