What happened to the Kai Tak terminal building? Did they pull it down 100%?

It was pulled down in 2004. There have been numerous plans laid out for Kai Tak but it kept getting shelved because of the economic crisis, SARS, etc... So now HK has more pressing issues to deal with rather than developing Kai Tak.

Why did they pull down the terminal so quickly? They should have leased it out for a few more years. Was it 100% demolished?

Hong Kong's economy is doing extremely well recently and our government will soon start the development of Kai Tak.

As an aside, if you look at this photo of Kai Tak, it is interesting to see the buildings that were built since the airport closed.
