Something around USD 800 for BSB-MAO-CCS-MAO-BSB....not a price champion though.

Hey guys!! I just read the post! I would have liked to go down there to CCS to spot the event!! Did you get to see the V0 340 sitting at the end of the runway? (Close to where the DHL aircraft sit)

It´s great to see more competition coming to CCS! Still waiting for NK!

Best regards,

Alberto

ah friends, also just saw the post.... well next time send me please a message  Smile

well I am pritty sure TAM will do very good with the flight as the fares seems pritty good. Well maybe there is a chance for an uprgrade to an A330 in the future... would be great!!! specially as there is a lot of grow in the brazil-venezulean market, its amazing to see the increase of the aircargo market on the brazil-venezuela route.

Last week I was invited to the TAM opening event in CCS, well the event was really amazing, I am sure TAM will do very good in this new marekt.

cheers

There are plans to code-share with Conviasa and than TAM could operate between CCS/MIA/CCS with traffic rights and maybe the "national" Venezuelan carrier changes from "AA" or "AV"...it is quite early to get this solved as the flt just started yesterday, but conversations with Conviasa will happen.

well as I understand the code-share deal for connections within Venezuela was already signed... regarding traffic rights for CCS-MIA-CCS would be a surprise. What to you mean with the national Venezuelean carrier changes from AA or AV???

This is a joke about what I heard while I was in CCS about 2 weeks ago...a lot of people in the aviation industry said as a joke that the national carrier of Venezuela is AA or AV...meaning there is no strong presence of a Venezuelan carrier.

TAM will do fine until Varig returns with the non-stop flight. It's still beyond me why TAM chose to fly via MIA as well. There isn't that much traffic between MAO and CCS to justify that stop. Besides, I'm pretty sure the 320 is capable of flying non-stop. Time will tell how the flight will perform. Wouldn't expect that much though, especially with Varig returning the non-stop flight briefly.

Marcelo

Guys,

An excellent way to spot the first flight departing from CCS. The morning was at its best, with an awesome amount of light and the A320 became airborne with not much effort.

I will upload the photos as soon as I can.

Let's hope they do fine on the route and upgrade to an A330 or perhaps, 777  Smile

Cheers

The thing is that the bilateral does not allow TAM to fly nonstop.

An agreement was signed already but its of a different nature, V0 will connect the TAM flight with the different national destination it serves.
Nothing about a CCS-MIA agreement, though.

I don't believe in such upgrade because it demand a stop in Manaus which already receives an A332 during the morning.
Looking for cargo, could be interesting (on São Paulo-Manaus leg), but also a waste of valuable A332 during the night as they could even fly non-stop to destinations like MIA where pax yields are higher.

The problem is that, selling cargo from Rio and São Paulo to Caracas has limits because of the land in MAO, and the cargo demand MAO-CCS is not that high to justify the A332.

well there is demand for cargo on the route MAO-CCS with an very high yield as lack of service cargo is normally moved via MIA. And well Absa flights from VCP into CCS are always full and I am sure TAM would do a very good business using an A332 on the route.

well lets see.

Avianca,

MAO is strong in cargo from LAX, MIA (because of electronic components), GRU and GIG (because of food and others), BSB and BEL (fruits and also food). The outgoing cargo in general are for GRU, GIG and BSB (electronics). This is why cargo planes run MIA-MAO-XXX-MIA
It's because of Manaus Free Trade Zone, good to produce electronics and all stuff, that they sell all around the country, but it's not enough to compete against China and others for Latin America country, as well as the current BRL x US$ rate does not help manufacturers that much. It's good to importers, bad to exporters.

Dude where have you been!?

No, unfortunately we couldn't take any photos of the aircraft in the Tarmac. The airport is facing the construction of it's new 4 aditional gates at the only place we could spot the aircraft with the CCS background. As a result, we just headed down to the spotting place where we caught the take-off.

Quoting Avianca (Reply 23):
MAO-CCS

For what I've heard before, this route is being performed because there's no aircraft availability to fly straightly from GIG or GRU to CCS. Actually, when RG dropped the non-stop route from GIG/GRU they sent a smaller aircraft to fly from MAO.

I do think a 'heavy' would come great on the Brasil-Venezuela route. We used to see the MD-11 or a 763 on a regular basis in CCS; why not to take advantage of the serious lack of flights between the south and the north?

Cheers

yes MAO is mainly an import market, but there is also some export cargo and that cargo has a very high yield due the lack of flights ex MAO to citys like CCS etc... as I understand there is for example a lot of Siemens Cargo in MAO...

yes a heavy again wouldnt be bad, specially the cargo import market needs aditional capacity the Absa and Cielos flights between VCP and CCS/VLN are not enough... (btw intresting what is all on these cargo flights.... its not uncommon that they move 20 to 25 tons of eggs on these flights)

Lipe, yes its not a very huge demand. but the rates are healty so also with a small load it would help the flight...
Anyway TAM would fill up the flight with cargo from GRU, it just amazing how the exports from SaoPaulo area into CCS are increasing day by day...

Avianca, cargo is not a focus on TAM A320's flight. If you look into DOT reports for example, Cargo numbers for the MAO-MIA are terrible !
Due to A320 basic conditions, and considering alternate airport for MAO, i doubt you would see so much cargo on this route Avianca.

JJMNGR may give a better view for us.

Finally I took a time to reply to the thread. The day that time arrived was simply AMAZING. That A320 just blast off the runway in front of our noses. I think that TAM will do a great job regarding their network in South America. A few days ago I tried to book a flight to MIA and the webpage offered me a great deal if I would chosen TAM (CCS-MAO-MIA).

Yes it could be dangerous in some zones but just if you are not from town you don't go to those places (As Orl777 said if you are with one of us you don't have to worry about). So come on man make a jump to CCS and let one of us know to take you for a Spotting day here. We won't take you to those dangerous zones so don't worry.

Hey Gustavo, is TAM really offering CCS-MIA via MAO? Oh dear, who would pick such a routing??? And why would TAM be offering that route for such a low price which competes directly with AA, S3 & VH??? That would be madness, filling up seats for low-yield pax?

Hello my friend!
You know I'm available to take you wherevet you want.
Spotting down here is not as safe as it should be; however, we go to places where there's a certain amount of security, for which we wouldn't expect to face any danger.
Come with us and we'll take you to cool places.
