That means: no special meal; e.g. vegetarian, or kosher, or low-calories, or milk-products etc.

Don't worry, you'll get your normal choice of mealservice, basically you'll be able to choose out of 2 different dishes in Y class.  Wink

Does anyone have any thoughts about KL upgrading their catering to level that AF has? Since they are the same company, I'd hope they would AF would upgrade KL's catering to their standards as there's quite a difference in meals.

As mentioned above, you'll get your meal. You'll get two meals , as a matter of fact. One a couple of hours after takeoff and a snack just before landing.

That is NW not KL.

Y would be alot more fun if the question was : Lobster or fillet mignon ?

With bigger desserts too. Those dessert square sizes are portions for a 5 year old.

May be but the chicken that I had on NW was excellent, more so in WBC back from FRA, better then most resturants that I have eaten at, huge chicken breast, salad, fruit, more and more. KL is a lot like NW for meals too.

This was the option of my KL ORD-AMS flight in May in Y. To be honest with you, the main course meals were not much different on NW on my return flight.

Sorry? I was able to get free wine in KLM's longhaul Y class lately. I think they changed this back to 'normal' situation since the merger with AF already.

Hi!

I don't think there is such a biiiig difference from KL to AF infact. There are some "small" details like for example the "Champagne" issue...yes AF still gives you a glass ( or more....in my last flight I got Jacquart Brut Mosaique ) and the wine they give you those small bottles ( White was a Chardonnay Vin de Pays d'Oc and red was Syrah also Vin de Pays d'Oc ), KL they don't give you champagne ( but it's understandable because Holland doesn't produce that....TP for example they offer you a Port wine, and AF don't do that....) but they give you glasses of wine ( you can have more than one if you want ). Regarding the meals, both AF and KL were excelent and....if you fly KL 777 the IFE is much better than the AF one! So evaluating pros versus against I would fly.....both!!!

Hi!

I'm still "crossing my fingers" and have the oportunity to fly again in a MD11, and it might happen next year!!! I have either YVR or HYD has a destination...both places will be flown by KL MD11, so I'm looking forward to fly maybe for the last time in a passenger MD11. Your report was excelent and I don't mind to have a bit of the service you got!

Yes, wine is free onKL!
I tried to do it a little too nice with the champagne bottle, but you thought I was referring to the wine.
Anyway, it's a nice gesture of AF to offer free champagne in Y, but you can already sense it's gonna be cut someday because some bean-counter figured out how expensive it is to fly around all those bottles around the globe.
It's time AF/KL introduce Y+ with these kind of amenities and better seats.

Well, I just had the most awful dinner and breakfast on AF flying CCS-CDG so I really don't hope so. Let's hope it was because of catering in CCS not being equal to catering out of CDG?
I wish that all skies were orange and blue!!

It's no longer pasta or chicken for the moment... it is pasta or a horrible risotto with pieces of microscopic seafood.
The fun of flying... love it !!!

Well, I guess I was lucky then! The chicken was not that bad.
