The original title of the movie is "Hostage Flight"
The German title is "Mord über den Wolken"/"Murder above the clouds"
It´s about "Trans Allied Airlines" flight TA136, a DC-10-30 from ORD
from where it was supposed to continue on to somewhere ...
The flight is hijacked by 4 terrorists (one of which happened to be a blond long-haired female and one of the more brutal ones) shortly after take-off from ORD
and ordered to change course to JFK
. The passengers and cabin crew only learn of their fate only after landing at JFK
The flight is made sit on the ground in New York for a while. The hijackers threaten to kill passengers and crew in order to have the aircraft refueled and later take-off without clearance and to surprise, shock and worries of the flight crew demand to be flown to London/Heathrow.
While in the air over the Atlantic Ocean and heading towards Europe a passenger and the lead flight attendant are viciously murdered.
When they try to kill a third person the passengers and crew strike and overpower them.
N702ML pretty detailed recalled the rest and end of the movie:
|Quoting N702ML (Thread starter):|
A debate begins among passengers as the flight heads across the Atlantic regarding what to do.....
The ending scene in the movie is of the passengers all seated in their seats with the hijackers hanged from the ceiling further back in the cabin.
"Hostage Flight" was a made for TV
movie. It´s production year was 1985 and it was directed by Steven Hilliard Stern. I remember that the hijackers in particular the ringleader -who at one point rapes a pretty female passenger- and the blond "lady" in this movie were portrayed as being extremely brutal and not only fighting for their demands to be met but also having quite some fun on torturing and threatening people.
It featured quite a few well-known actors and actresses:
Ned Beatty as the head of the FBI at JFK
, Mitchell Ryan plays the captain of the hijacked flight, Jack Gilford, Dee Wallace Stone, René Enriquez, Ina Balin, Frank McRae portray some of the passengers, John Karlen plays the cop who happened to have his revolver with him on the flight. Kristina Wayborn portrays the despicable female hijacker and Loanne Bishop the poor flight attendant who was literally executed.
