Not much but it was only a 55 minute flight and it was very tasty!

The ham and cheese panini is a favourite with passengers on Aer Lingus short-haul.

Since I am usually flying from Seattle to the East coast and back for 5+ hours, Alaska Airlines is my choice. And I always choose their Lemon Tuna in a can meal no matter what time of day. Dependable and consistent, not bad, and it gets me thru the flight to a proper meal in a restaurant. One thing I never look for in travel is anything to eat that will impress me. I have never had an airline meal that was first rate and I don't expect it to. Just keep the hunger pains away until I can get some real food.

Same catering as buy-on-board in coach, only complimentary. I think this technically makes Alaska's "First Class" a domestic Business Class product. No unique catering. Shameful. Even USAirways manages to cater something different up front.

The LX hot meals pictured above on intra-Europe flights are served on very few flights -- only longer flights of more than 2 hours or so in my experience. I would guess that at least 90% of LX European flights are shorter than that and you only get a small cold meal.

I had them on DUB-ZRH and ZRH-ATH and ZRH-SKG. I guess you would not expect those on shorter flights. Still very impressive for Europe J class of over 1 hour 45 mins as in the case of DUB-ZRH.

Likewise, it was a good source of information!

I don't really have a definitive favourite, but here's a broad range, including my favourites. Air Nostrums business class product between LGW and MAH which I was fortunate to sample a couple of times would top the board, but as I don't have any pictures of it, I'll stick to the economy meals I have received;

The Good:

Syrian Air hot meal flying LHR-DAM. Very very nice, ample crusty bread handed out, portions definitely not skimped on so I felt very full after eating it.

Atlantic Airways cold meal flying FAE-CPH - beautiful slices of beef with a light salad which just slipped down. I'm not sure if it was in economy or business, only the front of the plane was served this, but I had booked in economy, so perhaps I was just lucky - it's certainly the best cold meal I have had on an airline in eco if so!

Northwest Airlines flying AMS-MSP... yes, an American legacy which managed to produce a good meal. In all seriousness I've never grumbled at the US carriers I've flown, it was very nice, there was a lot of it and the stewardesses kept the wine coming as well silly

Royal Jordanian Airlines flying AMM-LHR. It doesn't look much, but it's the best tasting bog standard economy meal I have ever tasted, can't remember what it was called, but it was very nice - I felt like asking for seconds it was that good! Certainly my favourite hot meal so far.

The not so Great:

British Airways internal offering on MAN-LGW... reminded me a little of birdseed and was fiddly to eat

Syrian Air macaroon served on DAM-LTK, interesting, but very small and not terribly filling. Still, added another airline dish to my collection  silly

Airquarious/Royal Jordanian snack between DAM-AMM. Not sure what the cake was, a little stodgy though and not ideal for breakfast... would have preferred an apple or similar.

Oasis Hong Kong flying HKG-LGW. An 'interesting' collection of instant splodges. It was ok, it filled a gap, but was certainly nothing at all special, but they are a LCC and, I know at the end of the day that ticket price reflects standards. The three piece fruit dish was taken very literally - there were three bits of fruit in it, the scrambled 'egg' occupied half the main course, the salad was well on it's way to going brown and the orange juice reminded me of paint stripper and had never seen an orange in it's life. At least they gave you something though!

A hamburger as a meal on a plane? That's so awesome.

It definitely is AS version of BOB which is "Northern Bites". AS offer's an entree salad or a complimentary Northern Bites, in this case a burger on their flights to Mexico resort destinations. MEX & GDL have different catering.

AS used to have the best meals, in both cabins. They were far from boing and very tasty. I was looking for some pics I had taken of them when I flew their new SFO-PVR flights when they first started them [a/c was a 72S in the old color scheme. It was around the time they were begining to receive their first 734s.
As I remember SFO-PVR in Y: There was a round of beverages and they gave us small trays of chips and salsa which was great. More drinks and lunch. I choose the enchiladas which came with salad, rice and beans and some sort of nice desert. On the return PVR-SFO in F. Chips and salsa, an empanda of some sort, a large salad, and my entree was shark with steamed vegatables and rice. Cheesecake for desert. Absolutely wonderful......Times have definitely changed.

Northwest Airlines flying AMS-MSP... yes, an American legacy which managed to produce a good meal. In all seriousness I've never grumbled at the US carriers I've flown, it was very nice, there was a lot of it and the stewardesses kept the wine coming as well

The entree looks similar to what KLM was serving but there's were from Uncle Ben's.

AY bussines class dinner starters (vegetarian choice). HEL-DEL in a MD-11. Loved the wines selection!

N405X, Thanks for posting the pic! Is MX's catering similar on their flights to the US, like LAX? I'm thinking of taking my significant other down for a really nice multi-city vacation and want him to really enjoy our flights since I've gotten him into enjoying all the happenings of the airlines ( I haven't flown MX for a few years now. I do remember the days way back when they were an all Y class carrier and offered awesome meals with china and glassware, linen napkins and the such even on LAX-MZT/PVR!)
Thanks as always for your help.

This is very good to see what is being served by all airlines from around the world. Keep sending these in folks. Also please take the photo before you eat it, not half way in to it.......LOL.

Wow! Some of the more obscure international airlines seem to have incredible catering. This whole thread is making my mouth water. Unfortunately, I live in the U.S., land of snack boxes.

I know its not a "meal" but does anyone have any pictures of the snack cookies that UA and DL serve on flights. Not the cheese ones but the gram crackers, the long ones. I simply love them, i always ask for extras or trade them with anyone around me, they're addictive!

You can order them from Amazon....they're Biscoff cookies.....great with a cup of coffee.....yum!

AS used to have the best meals, in both cabins. They were far from boing and very tasty.

Yes, they sure did! I remember flying with them in F-class from SEA-SJC in the late-90's, and then SJC-PDX in coach, and both ways had excellent food. I believe the first-class meal was pasta of some sort with some sort of bread that was simply amazing. Then, the flight from SJC-PDX in coach was a ham and cheese croissant sandwich served with kettle-cooked potato chips and a chocolate chip cookie. Delicious.
