MD 83 Banned From Germany?

Thu Oct 04, 2007 9:27 pm

Hi folks ,

As many of you know, Real Madrid has a new plane named "LA SAETA", which will be their private MD 83 which is owned by "viajes Iberia". This will be the aircraft the football and baskettball teams are going to use for their away games!

Here more info on La Saeta
http://dm.airliners.net/discussions/...eneral_aviation/read.main/3638209/

I read that the MD-83 they use might not be able to be used when they play Werder Bremen because of noise restrictions

Here is the article in spanish
http://www.lavanguardia.es/lv24h/20071004/53398950717.html

It states the MD 83 doesn't meet noise policy in Germany. Never knew the MD 83, which is a pretty common plane cannot land there. If this concerns the MD 83, there must be other Mad Dogs concerned. Could anyone give more info ?

Regards

BM

This may be airport specific restrictions. This morning, we had our usual Bulgarian Air Charter flight in HAM and it was still an MD-80. Don't know if Bremen's noise restrictions are harsher than those of Hamburg (which are already one of the most restrictive in Germany).

Strange, there's a good number of SK and JK MD-80s here in MUC.
Exceptions confirm the rule.

It would be intresting. Here in the states there are airports that are indeed type regulated. Germany is indeed as an overall very restrictive with noise etc. etc. I doubt a specific type and espesially one as common would be banned as the 727 and 737-200 would also be in that event. So would a few Ruskie beauties.

If its true its ridiculous. I remember when Swissair introduced their md80s they were the quietest aircraft they had even quieter than the A310s. I would like to see more MD80s in Europe. I remember when lots of charter airlines in germany had them. Especially Aero Lloyd

Not to mention the MD-80 is still quite quieter then most Russian built aircraft.
