Mon Aug 21, 2000 7:21 am

When will all of Delta's L1011s be retired? What will be the final routes that they are on?

Many people have asked this, but it looks like ATL-MCO, in early August 2001. I plan to be on this flight.

August 2001 is set time of retirement as King767 stated. This is depending on how many aircraft Boeing can deliver and how fast they can deliver them. The route will most likely be ATL-Florda (Vice Versa) or ATL-HNL (Vice Versa).

Years after our beloved Tristars are gone we can look up into the sky at night, and find three stars close together and remember Lockheed's Tristars.

Not.

I feel a great respect for them but I won't personify them. However, this last spring I saw several Tristars (at least two) being slowly disassembled in Arizona or New Mexico (probably for parts). I felt sad.

Retirement could also be accelerated if DL does not get an extension from the FAA exempting the L-1011 from Cargo Fire/Smoke Detection and Supression systems.
This plane is built to withstand anything... except a bad pilot.
