Where are the other reservation centers? I know there is one in Cary, NC. Is there one in Chicago? New York? Miami? San Juan?

I believe that the Cincinnati res office has been there since the 1950's back when AA had a significant pax and cargo ops there..thru the 60's and into the 70's.

Others were Hartford, Raleigh, Dallas and Tucson. Years ago most airlines also had "downtown" or even "suburban" ticket offices usually in Hotels but some times located on commercial office buildings. In the old days some cals would be routed to these offices as well for customer service.

Yup..those were those "Good Old Days!"

Is the Hartford RES office still operational?
I know they moved from their former location in Hartford to a new space that was closer to BDL about three or four years ago, but I'm not sure if that office is still open.

I think there was one in Paramus, NJ. At least through 2001, but I'm not sure if it's still around.

Yes, I speak to Hartford-based EXP AAgents quite frequently.

In the years before the take-over, TWA had a res center at Norfolk, VA. Any one know the fate of this facility? Did AA shut it down right away? Has it been discussed here? I have not been able to find any info.

AA had res offices in Chicago and Detroit, which were combined with the CVG office in the mid 1970s.

Prior to deregulation, AA was one of the 3 largest airlines at CVG, along with DL and TW.

Indeed. I dated one of the staff from the res office in 1973 and 1974 .. AA was a major player at CVG -- including a nice Admiral's Club.
I love to fly, and it shows!

No...the last major airline that had a reservations office in New Jersey
was Eastern until 1989..... Kiwi had one in Newark from 1992 to 1999,
I worked in both.... you may be thinking of a CTO (City Ticket Office).

It was only a matter of time. With declining call volume and more reservation-booking being done online, AA doesn't need this many traditional res call centers. And it makes sense that it would be Cincinnati: that was the smallest of the group. Much of AA's res operations are going home-based, anyway, as are other customer service functions like AAdvantage customer service and customer relations.

Quoting ERJ170 (Reply 1):
Where are the other reservation centers?

Fort Worth, Texas (SRO = Southern Reservations Office) - AA's largest res office
Tucson, Arizona (SWRO = Southwest Reservations Office) - AA's second largest res office
Cary, North Carolina (SERO = Southeastern Reservations Office)
Hartford, Connecticut (ERO = Eastern Reservations Office)
Cincinnati, Ohio (CRO = Central Reservations Office)

In the recent past, AA has also had offices in Dallas, Texas; Honolulu, Hawaii; Las Vegas, Nevada (ex-Reno); San Antonio, Texas (ex-AMR subsidiary TeleService Resources); Chicago, Illinois, Norfolk, Virginia, and St. Louis, Missouri (all ex-TWA).

Yep, the CVG office is one of the oldest - it's been around for decades.

There has never been an AA res office anywhere in New Jersey, but there was a CTO there - at the Paramus Mall - up until a few years ago.

The ex-TWA res offices in Norfolk, Chicago and St. Louis were all kept by AA and remained open for business until 9/11. After 9/11, however, AA closed all of them, along with the nAAtive South Dallas office.

AA also had a reasonably sized Res Office in YYZ serving Canadian Callers. Believe this office was closed in the early 80's with all calls being routed to the ERO at Hartford.

AA has Spanish-language res offices in Mexico City (handling many U.S.-originating Spanish-language calls) and in Lima, Peru, and - if I remember correctly - a French-language call center in Montreal that handles calls from the U.S., Canada and maybe France. AA also has a res office in Dublin that handles calls in various languages from all over Europe.

Well ateast it's not Delta...I don't know what language I speak when I am off the phone with them..I think they share office with Dell you don't know if the person is speaking about a laptop or seat on a plane...nor do they. It could be citibank also....they are just as bad. Atleast AA kept most American employeed in the US, not India...where 9 times out of 10 I end up hanging up on them. AMEX tried this as well and guess what...slowly moving the call centers back to PHX and FLL.

I can tell you AA & DL are both downsizing res centers, and both are opting for implementing the "at home" res agents.
I know that CO has allready taken great strides in doing this.

Don't forget B6... I believe all of their agents are home based in the Salt Lake area. G4 is looking at doing a home based system as well.

The primary reason for its closing is that AA was advised by the landlord that the facility will be converted to a residential property. All of the approximately 450 RES agents will be offered transfers or switch to an at-home set-up.

The AA reservations center in Hartford used to be downtown I believe. Now that building is being converted into condos.
