Any Info About The 2nd A380 Visit To YVR?

Sun Oct 14, 2007 6:12 am

There are now only a few days left until an A380 (this time GP7000-powered MSN009) returns to YVR on a route proving trial (excerpt from the Airbus press release: "The next destinations to be visited are Bogota, Colombia; Vancouver, Canada and Osaka, Japan (15th to 19th October)."), yet I have been unable to find any information on the exact date, let alone the time, that she will be here. Unlike last November, there has been no mention of this visit in the local media. Is there anyone in our vast membership that can shed some light on the schedule for this tour?

Since we are the middle destination on a five day tour I have assumed that the A380 will be here on Wednesday, and booked the day off of work accordingly. Of course, I would really hate to waste one of my few paid days off because she passed through on Tuesday, or isn't arriving until Thursday, and there may still be time to change my day off! The expected ETA would also be nice, but if I know she's coming I'm willing to be there by first light and wait all day...

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey I am wondering too man. The discussion wasn't as "HIT" as the 1st visit for some reason ....

I found this post in the photo section: "A380" Coming To YVR Next Week! (by YVR1234 Oct 5 2007 in Aviation Photography)

This person posted the following main rundown:

"Breaking news" is the Airbus 380 is making a tech flight into YVR next week. Rumour has it docking on a recently opened West Chevron Gate.

Arriving October 16th at 1900.
Departing October 17th at 1000.

I dunno how "confirm" this info is ...... but I guess we can give it a try on Tues.
Oh btw, I believe weather network reports the weather to be 90% raining ..... unfortunately .....

Thanks for that info Rexie (and YVR1234). I didn't think to search any forums other than civil aviation. Unfortunately, if it does arrive at 1900 it will be in the dark again  Sad (this evening the streetlights were on by 18:30 and it wasn't even overcast). I'll definately be there on Wednesday morning bright and early, though...
