the issue has been resolved.
"Thank you for contacting Northwest's Passenger Refunds Department.
We are pleased to inform you that after reviewing your request we have determined that there is a refund due. The refund amount reflects all applicable service/cancellation fees associated with your ticket(s)......."
Take it how you wish, but NW felt they owed me, in spite of the fact that they did get me to my destination!
